The Anderson Foundation, a private, non-profit operating foundation located in Abington, MA, is pleased to offer your students an opportunity to explore a culture through its cuisine at Boston University.

This unique program which takes place in the Culinary Arts Department at Boston University, and is taught by a culinary professional assisted by students enrolled in the Certificate Program in the Culinary Arts.

Cooking Up Culture events last approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours. During this time, the children have the opportunity to see foods being prepared in the BU demonstration kitchens, learn the ingredients, including herbs and other seasonings, and discover how the cuisine came to be. Following this, a lunch consisting of the prepared foods is enjoyed by the participants.

In order to maximize the benefits of this effective educational tool, we recommend that you give students a basic familiarity with the country prior to arriving at Boston University: location, capital, climate, geography, history, and a few words of the language. Questions are welcome from the students. If they come prepared and curious, they are easily captivated by the instructor.
