We provide flow cytometry services for analysis and sorting, as well as expert consulting to meet the needs of all stages of your research.

BD LSR II SORP

Our BD LSRII is a five laser, 14 detector analysis flow cytometer capable of measuring 12 colors simultaneously. The lasers in this instrument are “Blue” (488nm), “UV” (355nm), “Red” (633nm), “Yellow-Green” (561nm), and “Violet” (405nm) (see BD LSRII configuration). This unit also features a high throughput 96 well autosampler (BD HTS). Digital acquisition increases sampling rates compared to analog machines. The acquisition workstation for this instrument is a PC with BD FACS Diva 6.2.1. The FCS 3.0 data files can be exported and analyzed using other applications such as TreeStar FlowJo.

BD FACSCalibur and BD FACScans

Our BD FACSCalibur and our two BD FACScans are one laser, five detector analysis flow cytometers capable of measuring 3 colors simultaneously. Each instrument contains a “Blue” (488nm) laser and data collected include forward scatter, side scatter, FL1 (530±30nm), FL2 (585±42nm), and FL3 (650±30nm). Both FACScans and the FACScalibur are equipped with DDM boards. The acquisition workstations are Mac G4 running BD Cellquest Pro v5.2. The FSC 2.0 data files can be also analyzed using other applications such as TreeStar FlowJo.

BD FACSARIA II SORP and Beckman Coulter MoFlo Legacy

Our BD FACSARIA II SORP is a 4 laser, 18 detector cell sorter capable of measuring 16 colors simultaneously. The lasers in this instrument are “Blue” (488nm), “UV” (355nm), “Red” (633nm), and “Violet” (402nm). The ARIA II can sort up to 4 populations simultaneously into tubes of varying sizes, tissue culture plates (using the ACDU apparatus), and onto individual slides. The acquisition workstation is a PC with BD FACS Diva 6.1.2. The FCS 3.0 data files can be exported and analyzed using other applications such as TreeStar FlowJo.

Our MoFlo Legacy is a three laser, nine detector flow cytometer cell sorter capable of measuring seven colors simultaneously. The lasers in the instrument are “Blue” (488nm), “UV” (tuned to 351nm), and a tunable red laser set at either “Red” (633nm) or “Yellow/Green” (561nm). The MoFlo can sort up to 2 populations simultaneously into tubes of varying sizes, tissue culture plates, and onto individual slides. The FCS 2.0 data files can be exported and analyzed using other applications such as TreeStar FlowJo.

BD FACSARIA II SORP and MoFlo Legacy are operated exclusively by the FCCF staff at this time.

TreeStar FlowJo academic license

Seats on our FlowJo site license are available for BU/BMC users. To obtain FlowJo for your computer from our site license, please download the latest version of FlowJo and complete the registration form. The application will start working within a few minutes of completing the registration process. After you have registered, you will be billed by the FCCF annually. The final price will depend on the number of computers that carry the software; we predict the cost to be ~$300 per computer per year in 2013. Free upgrades are included.
