Take a sailing class for academic credit

PDP credit courses are a great way for students to schedule a workout into their academic weeks or balance their course loads. From swimming to group fitness to dance, BU offers something for everyone! Classes generally meet once or twice a week, for varying times. Most are held in BU’s new, state-of-the-art Fitness and Recreation Center. Register for your class on StudentLink, and then pay fees (if necessary) on My FitRec.

PDP WF 101 Sailing, Beginning

Fall ‘16

Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Boating Swim Test or Waiver. This is an introductory course for those with little or no sailing experience. The course will explore boat rigging, basic nautical terminology, safety procedures, and elementary sailing maneuvers. The course meets for two hours once a week at the BU Sailing Pavilion and will be a combination of land-based lectures and practice as well as on the water instruction.   [ 1 cr. ]

PDP WF 104 Rowing, Beginning

Fall ‘16

Prereq: Successful completion of the Boating Swim Test. The fundamentals of rowing and coxing are taught first in a training "barge" and then in an eight-oared shell. Meets for approximately eight weeks.   [ 1 cr. ]
