Take a group exercise class for academic credit

PDP credit courses are a great way for students to schedule a workout into their academic weeks or balance their course loads. From swimming to group fitness to dance, BU offers something for everyone! Classes generally meet once or twice a week, for varying times. Most are held in BU’s new, state-of-the-art Fitness and Recreation Center. Register for your class on StudentLink, and then pay fees (if necessary) on My FitRec.

PDP FT 100 Basic Fitness Workout

Sprg ‘15

A great all-over workout for everyone; includes a warm-up, aerobic phase, strength training, stretching, cool down and floor exercises.  [ 1 cr. ]

PDP FT 102 Condition and Tone

PDP FT 105 Total Body Conditioning

Sprg ‘15

Take your body to the next level by combining weight training, body weight exercises, aerobic step drills, and plyometrics training to create a high intensity, total body workout. Strength training exercises and high-intensity interval drills are performed in quick succession to maximize your calorie burn and enhance your fitness level by working your whole body.   [ 1 cr. ]

PDP FT 109 Cardio Cycle

PDP FT 110 Stability Ball Training

PDP FT 113 Weight Training for Women

PDP FT 222 Power Lifting Fundamentals

Sprg ‘15

Open to all levels of lifting experience, this class is centered on the three powerlifting lifts of squat, bench press and deadlift. Class reviews proper technique, methods of training and preparation, periodization, mental strategies, injury prevention, assistance exercises to enhance the three lifts and competition rules.  [ 1 cr. ]

PDP FT 301 Cardio Kickboxing

PDP FT 304 Group Exercise Instructor Training

Sprg ‘15

Prepares the student to take the group exercise instructor certification exam with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and to learn about individualized programs in health and fitness. Lectures include basic anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, and biomechanics. Practical training workshops are offered in exercise leadership, choreography, and safety.   [ 2 cr. ]

PDP FT 306 Personal Trainer

Sprg ‘15

Certification training class designed to prepare individuals for Certified Personal Trainer Examination given by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CPT). Includes practical and theoretical seminars in basic anatomy and exercise physiology, fitness evaluation, training program design, nutrition, teaching methods, and safety issues. Extra class fee includes text and test prep materials.  [ 2 cr. ]
