Summer fun at Swimsport Camp

The Swimsport Camp is for children entering Grades 4 through 8. Activities include: swimming, sailing, soccer, basketball, rock climbing, and more, taught by our qualified and dedicated instructors. In addition, campers go on a variety of field trips and attend special in-house events. In addition to participating in these activities, each Swimsport camper selects an interest to focus on during each session. The interests are: Sailing, Swimming, Competitive Swimming, and Dance. This structure allows campers to experience a variety of activities, while also spending time focusing on a single activity. Sign your child up for Swimsport Camp and not only will he or she have an active and rewarding summer, you just may have introduced a lifelong hobby!

Swimsport Camp interests

Let your child experience all the fun and adventure of sailing this summer! Campers who select the Sailing interest will spend the majority of each afternoon on the Charles River learning to sail. They will learn knots used in sailing, how to rig a boat, points of sail, and boating safety, and spend time learning sailing technique. Note: In order to participate, campers must be at a level 4 swimming status as recommended by the American Red Cross Standards and as evaluated by our Aquatics staff.

Give your child the chance to master the lifelong skill of swimming this summer with our Swimming interest. Intended to improve swimming skills and technique, the Swimming interest includes two daily swim lessons with our certified swim instructors.

Competitive Swimming (Sessions 3, 4 & 5 only)

Is your child already a great swimmer and looking to improve? If so, the Competitive Swimming interest is for him or her! Campers will swim twice daily and receive instruction on stroke technique, refinement of starts and turns, and endurance building. Campers will also meet with coaches to discuss topics such as nutrition, racing strategies, sports psychology, and injury prevention—all with an underlying focus on the joys of swimming! Sessions will conclude with a mock meet, and campers will receive a video filmed underwater with stroke and technique analysis. Note: Participants must be able to swim 50 yards of all four competitive strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle.

Dance (Sessions 3 & 4 only)

Sign your child up to experience the exciting world of dance this summer! The Dance interest is for dancers of all levels, and participants will hone their technical dance skills, create original choreography, and improve their dance performance skills. Campers will be placed in classes based on experience and ability and will have daily instruction in ballet, modern, yoga/stretching, jazz, hip-hop, and special classes like Zumba and West African dance. Recreational swimming, rock climbing, and arts & crafts will also be included as part of the Dance interest experience.
