Camp Terrier – Junior Lifeguarding

Ages 11 – 15

Thanks for a great summer! Check back in November 2019 for information regarding Summer 2020.

Junior Lifeguarding has a strong focus on developing both swimming and lifesaving skills. Participants will be introduced to in-water rescues, use of lifeguarding equipment, and shadowing real lifeguards on the job. The program will also strive to teach self-confidence, team work, and leadership. Note: This is not a learn-to-swim program.

Prerequisites

Campers must be able to complete:

  • 100 yard freestyle
  • 50 yard backstroke
  • 100 yard breaststroke
  • 1 minute of treading water

With successful completion of all skills and tests during this one-week camp, American Red Cross certifications in Basic Water Rescue, CPR, AED, and First Aid will be achieved.

 

A typical day:

8:30 – 9 am Drop off
9 – 10 am First Aid/CPR
10 am – 12 pm Basic water rescues
12 – 1 pm Lunch
1 – 3 pm First Aid/CPR or water rescues
3 – 5 pm Scenarios and skill practice
5 pm Pick up
