Athletic Training Services Staff Bios
The Club Sports Athletic Training staff consists of two full-time certified athletic trainers and two graduate assistant certified athletic trainers who work with a team of orthopedic physicians and general medicine physicians.
Eric Gahan, MS, ATC, CSCS, RKC
Eric Gahan was named an athletic trainer at Boston University in August 2008 and a Senior Athletic Trainer in 2009. He is responsible for providing sports medicine care to all Terrier student-athletes, but coordinates the care for the club men’s rugby team. Eric most recently worked as an athletic trainer at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in 2007 and 2008. Prior to this position, he was a senior athletic trainer at the University of Mississippi, working with baseball (2003-05) and football (2005-07). He also served as an assistant athletic trainer at St. Bonaventure during the 2002-03 school year. A native of Ilion, N.Y., Eric graduated from Canisius College in 2000 with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training. He earned a master of science degree in athletic training from the University of Kentucky in 2002, and is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Becky McClelland, MS, ATC, CSCS
Becky earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Athletic Training from Messiah College in 2003, and earned her certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in the summer of 2003. She worked as an intern athletic trainer at The College of the Holy Cross for one year before starting her master’s degree at the University of Kentucky. She worked as graduate assistant certified athletic trainer for UK and received a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology in 2006. Following her master’s degree she worked at Monmouth University in Long Branch, NJ as a full-time staff member for two years before joining the staff at BU in the fall of 2008. She coordinates the medical care for the men's lacrosse team and supervises the graduate assistants who work with the women’s rugby and varsity swimming & diving teams. She is an Accredited Clinical Instructor and teaches within the Athletic Training Education program in Sargent College as an adjunct faculty member. Becky is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and is licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health.
Beth Wolfe, ATC
Beth graduated from the University of South Carolina in May of 2010 and joined the BU Athletic Training Staff as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer in August of 2010. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Health Education and aspires to be a physician’s extender after completing her degree. Beth coordinates the medical care for the women’s rugby team. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and is licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health.
Jeff Apple, ATC
Jeff graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in May 2011. In August of 2011, he joined the Boston University Athletic Training Services as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer while pursuing a Master's Degree in Applied Anatomy and Physiology. Jeff currently coordinates the medical care for the newly established men's club ice hockey team. Jeff is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and is licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health.
