L'Enfur du Nord
4/21-4/22, Dartmouth College
The "Hell of the North" race weekend brought more solid performances from all of BU's riders, although due to scoring errors it is hard to say exactly how we did. The first day of racing had a short ITT, which produces mostly mid-field finishes for all riders. Saturday also featured a technical crit, which proved much safer than last weekend's. Sunday's sole event was an incredibly difficult road race, in which one of our riders won, and almost all of the others were mis-scored in.
David Villari - 1st (Road Race), 4th (ITT)

A smaller gathering of riders than usual owing to spring break, but still a successful weekend. Gordon and Dave moved up a category to challenge themselves, and both still had respectable pack finishes on the first day, as well as an excellent team time trial. The men's A riders also had a good showing, beating several full teams with only 3 riders in the TTT. Lydia, our sole lady for the weekend, also did well on day 1 after moving up a category.
Day 2 was a little less successful for the men's BU teams, although Ian and Preston both had top-10 finishes in the open race while competing for their summer cycling teams. Lydia continued her trend of improvement and placed even higer than the day before in Women's C's, breaking into teh top 5.

Beanpot Final vs. Northeastern
2/14, 9:30pm at Harvard University
In a game in which the score was not indicative of its closeness, the Terriers were defeated in the 4th annual Beanpot tournament Tuesday night at the hands of the Northeastern Huskies. A shaky first period with a few bad bounces proved to be the Achilles heel for BU, during which they surrendered a 3-0 deficit.
BU kept the game close, with senior Louis Mareschi cashing in on his first of two goals on the night, getting a mini breakaway off of a tic-tac-toe passing play from linemates Nick Ennis and Pawel Kalinowski. After allowing a powerplay goal late in the 2nd, the Terriers took a 4-1 hole into the 3rd period.
Although they were unable to charge their way back in the 3rd, BU showed heart and pride as they scored back to back goals within two minutes of each other to close the gap. Senior Brian Meyers found the goal column with his first of the year, while Mareschi earned 1st Star honors by scoring his 2nd of the night.
This left the Terriers the 2012 Beanpot Runner Up.
------------------------------------------------------------
Beanpot Round 1 vs. Harvard
2/7 6:15pm at Harvard University
In one of their most dominant performances of the season, the Terriers defeated the Harvard University Crimson 11-1 Tuesday night to secure a spot in the Beanpot final against either Boston College or Northeastern University. BU will try to win the beanpot for the first time since its creation at the club level in 2008.
Sophomore Eric Raiche continued his dominance between the pipes, allowing only one goal late in the first period. Raiche has only given up 3 goals in his past two games. The line of Louis Mareschi, Pawel Kalinowski, and Nick Ennis was simply dominant, collecting 7 of the BU goals on the night. It was Kalinowski’s first game of 2012 after missing the first four with an ankle injury. Ennis also has tallies in 3 of his 4 games played this year.
GAME NOTES: Eleven goals marks BU’s highest scoring outburst of the season…this is the first time this season that the Terriers have limited their opponent to less than 2 goals.
------------------------------------------------------------
Home vs. Providence College
2/4 9:00pm Walter Brown Arena
With Providence College in town for a rematch from 24 hours ago, BU was able to push their way to their first two-game winning streak of the season. Goals were scored by Nick Ennis, Tyler Graham, and Mark Kasabian. In a game that was very reminiscent of Friday night, the Terriers were once again not at their best, but were able to pull out the victory.
Graham was able to cash in midway through the 1st period off of a garbage goal in front. It was his 4th goal on the weekend, and 7th of the season overall. Providence had a goal called off late in the 1st when a Friar forward collided with the net, knocking it off of its moorings just before the puck was shot across the line. The 1st period ended 1-0 in favor of the Terriers.
The second period featured Providence putting good scoring chances on net, but sophomore Eric Raiche out dueling the Providence offense in the finest outing by a BU goalie all year. Providence forward Daniel Caccavella said of Raich’e’s effort between the pipes, “I didn’t know we were going to face Martin Brodeur in net tonight.” The score remained 1-0 after 2 periods, thanks to Raiche.
BU was able to distance themselves in the 3rd, with Jr. Nick Ennis getting in on both Terrier goals of the period. After wearing down the Friar defense during a fantastic shift, Ennis was able to push his way through the slot and loft a backhander on net, beating the Providence keeper low stick side. Minutes later, Soph. Mark Kasabian teamed up with Ennis to score the prettiest goal of the night. Ennis was once again applying heavy pressure and put a puck on net, creating a waist high rebound that Kasabian was able to bat out of the air to make the game 3-1.
Providence was able to cash in for a Power Play goal with 6 minutes to go, but was unable to tie things up after adding the 6th attacker.
------------------------------------------------------------
Away vs. Providence College
2/3 7:00pm at Providence College
The Terriers finally got back in the win column tonight with a win over the Providence College Friars, 4-3. After a tough loss to UConn and two straight losses to open up the new year, BU found a way to win due to a hat trick from junior Tyler Graham, solid goal tending from Freshman David Gonzales, and an additional tally by senior Alfonso Arevalo.
------------------------------------------------------------
Away vs. UConn
1/29, 6:15pm, UConn, Storrs, CT
The Terriers traveled to Storrs, CT to take on the 8th ranked UConn Huskies tonight. After digging a quick two goal hole in the first period, the Terriers began to show life by pressing hard in the offensive zone to wear down the Husky defense. The Huskies ended the 2nd period with another goal, making the deficit 3-0 at the intermission.
Showing some heart and grit, the Terries mounted a comeback in their finest period of the year. Senior Alfonso Arevalo opened the scoring with a low blocker, power play goal midway through the period. Sophomore Mark Kasabian added another tally just minutes later, threading a shot from the right side on an odd man rush to cut the UConn lead to one and forcing them into a timeout.
With just a minute to go in the period, and the Terriers sustaining heavy pressure in the offensive zone, BU pulled sophomore goalie Justin Lundy for the extra attacker. Flying off the bench as the extra man, junior Nick Ennis picked up a rebound in the slot and burred the puck with just 52.3 seconds remaining.
BU carried the momentum into overtime with a few opportunities, but a UConn rush the other way and a few bad bounces gave UConn the extra tally with just over two minutes remaining. Despite the loss, it was by far the Terrier’s guttiest performance of the season. They will travel to Providence, RI on Friday to take on the Providence Friars, and will then prepare for the first round of the Beanpot tournament next Tuesday against Harvard University.
------------------------------------------------------------
Away vs. Keene State

The game was close after the first period. With the Eagles converting on a 5 on 3 powerplay, the Terriers went into the lockeroom after 1 period down 2-0. The second period was back and forth as the Eagles scored two more times to make the game 4-0. The Terriers made a strong push in the 3rd period with goals from Sean McCarthy and Derek Pastuszek making the game 4-2. The Eagles added another goal to finish the game with a score of 5-2.
------------------------------------------------------------
BU vs. UMAINE (ACHA D2)
11/12 9:00pm, Walter Brown Arena at Boston University
The Terriers got off to a quick start scoring 2 first period goals. They continued the scoring in the 2nd period adding a few more goals while only giving up 1 to the Blackbears. The third period remained much of the same as the Terriers finished up the game with a season high 10 goals as they defeated the Blackbears 10-3. Louis Mareschi, Nick Ennis, and Sean McCarthy all had 2 goal games for the Terriers.
------------------------------------------------------------
BU vs. UMASS (ACHA D2)
10/29 4:00pm Springfield Civic Center, Springfield, MA
The Terriers came out of the gates flying posting a 5-1 lead throughout the first two periods. With technical difficulties in the rink, the 3rd period became a 28 minute period. During these 28 minutes, the Minutemen of UMASS turned the game into a 5-5 score. The game went into overtime and the Minutemen came out on top with a 6-5 victory a little less than 2 minutes into the 5 minute period.

The third period continued in favor of the Terriers as the final score ended up being 9-3. Many Terriers found the scoresheet in the game and the detailed scoring summary can be found at achahockey.org under Division 2 Boston University. Pawel Kalinowski recorded his first hattrick of the year.
------------------------------------------------------------
BU vs. BC (ACHA D2)
10/10, 3:30pm, Walter Brown Arena
The Terriers got off to a quick start outshooting the Eagles but couldn't solve the Eagles goaltender until a shorthanded goal by Alfonso Arevalo in the 2nd period making the game 3-1 after 2 periods. Quickly after the start of the 3rd period the Eagles put away 2 more goals making the game 5-1. Shortly after, Bob Klein wristed a shot past the goalie making the game 5-2. The Eagles' pressure continued as they added 3 more goals. The Terriers did not quit as Louis Mareschi fired a puck past the goalie to bring the game to 8-3. The Eagles scored one more time with the final score being 9-3.
------------------------------------------------------------
BU vs. UVM
10/2 at UVM, Burlington VT
The Club Ice Hockey team came out battling hard in the 1st period against a strong University of Vermont team. UVM broke the scoreless tie late in the first period to make it 1-0. During the 2nd period, the Terriers created turnovers and had opportunities to convert on multiple power plays but the UVM goalie could not be solved. Vermont extended the lead to 3-0 after the 2nd period, and scored twice more in the final frame to go on to 5-0 victory. The Terriers will look to even the score when the Catamounts come to campus on October 22.

In-Line Hockey
Regular Season Tournament
2/18- 2/19, Glastonbury, CT
We played three games against UMass Amherst, SUNY Albany, and Northeastern. After losing to UMass, we played Albany for the final playoff spot. It was a tight game that was tied going into the third period before Albany scored two in the third to win 3-2. Our last chance to clinch a playoff berth was against second place Northeastern (17-1). Again we played a close game with Northeastern taking a 2-1 lead just seconds before the end of the 2nd period. They were able to capitalize on their power play opportunities and they went on to win 5-1.
------------------------------------------------------------
Regular Season Tournament
1/21-1/22, Feasterville, PA
The in-line hockey team played in four games over the course of the weekend and unfortunately finished with only one win and three losses. The Terriers opened up against the University of Vermont and struggled in a 4-2 loss. Next, BU played the undefeated Pittsburgh Panthers. Pittsburgh showed how talented they were in a 9-3 terrier loss. Saturday evening, the Terriers played Cornell. Mark Flitsch starred in net, making 26 saves, while Steve Strohsahl and Matt Sullivan each scored one in the 2-1 Terrier win. Sunday, BU took on the UMASS Minutemen. After a hard fought game, unfortunately the Terriers came up short in a 6-5 loss.
Several Terriers had noteworthy weekends. Andrew Hanlon represented BU in the Division II All-Star game while he, Matt Sullivan, Kevin Robataille and Steven Strohsahl all took part in the skills competition. Mark Flitsch received the first star of the game for his performance against Cornell and Andrew Hanlon was the second star against UMASS.

Regular Season Tournament
11/19 - 11/21, Old Bethpage, NY
Boston did not wake up too well for their early morning first contest against Binghamton. The team battled, but came out on the wrong side of a 7-1 decision.
Game two against Millersville was a different story. Facing an understaffed Millersville squad, BU took out early morning frustrations in a 13-4 victory. Tucker Franz put up the first two goals of his BU career, finishing with 4 points in the game, Ethan Shibutani had a hat trick, and Kevin ""Tall Kevin"" Robitaille put up 7 points.
In game three, BU faced off against a Scranton team hungry to avenge a preseason loss. In a tight, back and forth, game, BU managed to come out on top with a 3-2 win. George Huber played well in the cage while Shibutani, Franz, and Terrier captain Steve Strohsahl all put the puck in the net. This was a big win against a team the Terriers are fighting for playoff positioning with.
For the Sunday morning game, the Terriers faced off against Queens College. BU fought from the get go against one of the league's premier teams, eventually coming up short in a 4-1 loss after giving up 2 goals in the third. Despite the loss, the game proved that the Terriers can skate with the top teams in the ECRHA and will continue to fight for the playoffs.

Regular Season Tournament
11/5, Feasterville, PA
Starting the weekend against a tough opponent in Drexel, we played a close game but scored four consecutive goals in the 2nd and 3rd periods in a 4-2 victory. Next we played Delaware, who knocked us out of the final playoff spot by one point last season. It was another close game, but two goals in the final minute of the 2nd period gave us a 3-1 lead, and we held on to win 4-2. In our third game we played Shippensburg, who jumped out to an early start and had a 3-1 lead, but we kept our heads up and rallied back to score 5 in a row, 4 of which came in the 3rd period. Our fourth and final game was against power house Slippery Rock, who controlled the entire game en route to handing us a frustrating 7-1 loss. We finished the weekend 3-1.

2) Kevin Robitaille
3) Andrew Todtenkopf
Game 2 Stars of the game:

Glastonbury Tournament
10/22-10/23, Glastonbury, CT
Our club finished with one win and two losses this weekend. Though we battled to the end against Albany, we eventually came up short. They beat us 4 to 1 in a game that was closer than the score. We were great against Vermont. We controlled the game and won 5-1. We struggled against Northeastern and lost 11-1. They outplayed us but the game was a learning experience and next time will surely be more competitive. Both Andrew Todtenkopf and Dylan Yott were "Stars of the Game" in the victory against Vermont. Andrew was the second star and Dylan was the third.
------------------------------------------------------------
Columbus Day Kickoff

Kung Fu
Peformance at Bentley University
11/17, 7:00pm, Bentley University, Waltham MA
The Boston University Kung Fu Club was invited to perform kung fu at Bentley. After about one month of practice, twelve of us drove to Bentley and performed. The performance was a great success and a memorable experience for my members. We did a group form where some of our newest members had their first experience with performing. Some of the more senior members participated in exciting forms and fight scenes. The hosts and the crowd was very pleased with our performance and even invited us again next Spring. Overall, it was an excellent experience for the club.

Men's Rugby
NERFU Championship
11/5, 2:00pm, Univeristy of Rhode Island
Boston University Rugby Football Club are officially the Division II champions of the Northeast. After one of the most tense matches the club has played this season, BU finally solidified their victory over URI 41-35. Over the 80 minute final the teams exchanged the lead 5 different times. Mistakes were made on both sides, and up until the last 5 minutes it was unclear who was going to come out on top. It truly took every ounce of strength and determination BU could muster to pull out this victory. Throughout the field leadership was exhibited at some point by every player. making this win a truly team effort.
The boys now wait in eager anticipation as the prepare for the national tournament next April against the other top 15 teams in the country.
------------------------------------------------------------
BU vs. UVM
10/22, 13:30, Boston University
BU men's rugby continues their upward ascent, securing themselves a spot in the Northeast final to determine who will be going to the Nationals Tournament next spring. Lead by Senior Phill Broughman, BU notched a 24-18 victory over a very determined University of Vermont. A W against Vermont has been elusive to BU in recent years and this win not only boosts Boston's standings in the Northeast, but gives them a much needed mental boost heading into their last two matches of the season. Next week's match against UMO should prove to be a physical battle that will test whether or not BU will be able to withstand the pure physicality of URI in the final on November 5th.
------------------------------------------------------------
BU at Holy Cross College
10/16, 2:00pm, Holy Cross College Worchester MA
Men's rugby adds another scalp to their incredibly strong season. Final score between BU and Holy Cross- 38-19. Senior Phill Broughman crossed the line 3 times to ensure a complete Boston victory. this Win puts BU at the top of the Northeast conference with a 4-1 record.
------------------------------------------------------------
BU vs. UNH
10/8, 7:00pm, University of New Hampshire
Boston University Men's Rugby got their season back on track with a 34-15 victory over UNH. Dominating possession in the first half, BU managed 29 points in 40 minutes. The second half saw moments of disfunction as UNH were allowed two tries to bring the score line closer together. Eventually Boston was able to cement the victory and set their sites on finishing number one in the Northeast as they look ahead to Holy Cross next Sunday.
------------------------------------------------------------
BU vs. Norwich Academy
9/24 at Norwich Academy, Northfield, Vermont
On a wet and dreary Saturday morning, the BU Rugby team traveled to Norwich University in Vermont to face off against their division rivals. Norwich jumped to an early lead but BU rallied with a score from Matt Campbell that would spark an enticing comeback. The final score was BU: 22, Norwich: 17.

BU's second match against Colby College was a win with the final score 39-0 with tries by Aubrey MacGill, Dee Nash, Alex Hubelbank, Abby Smigelski, Alex Krawczuk, Victoria Denholm. Dee Nash also scored 2 of her 6 kicks.
Sunday was a more difficult day with the rainy cold weather but BU beat the University of Albany 19-0 with tries by Aubrey MacGill (2), Emma MacDonald. Dee Nash made 2 out of her 3 kicks. Making it to the championships, BU lost to URI 0-29 and came in second.

------------------------------------------------------------
BU vs Princeton
10/29 1:00pm, Princeton University, Princeton NJ
The BU Women's Rugby Team traveled 6 hours on a bus to Princeton, NJ this weekend for the first round of playoffs. When the girls stepped onto the pitch on Saturday afternoon they stepped into 6 in of snow and 29 degree weather. This blizzard persisted the whole match making it an extremely difficult game for both sides. The Princeton Tigers came out strong, scoring the first try of the game. BU did well to try and retaliate but the slippery conditions made it difficult for their offense to gain much yardage. Despite the more than harsh conditions, BU put up a fantastic defensive effort throughout the entire game, only allowing the Tigers 4 tries. Unfortunately their offensive difficulties led the girls to a loss of 0-22 and the Tigers came away with the victory. This match concludes BUWRFC's fall season.
------------------------------------------------------------
BU vs. UCONN
10/23, 11:00:00 University of Connecticut, Storrs CT
Probably the most exciting and hardworking game of the season took place today in Storrs, CT. BU needed the victory to continue onto playoffs, and a loss would mean the end of their season. The Terriers walked onto the field having just played a full match against NU the night before, but this did not diminish their energy or enthusiasm in any way and the girls came away with the victory 12-5. UCONN made BU work for every inch of yardage and put up some good offensive play, especially with their kicking. But BU's defense was unyielding and the girls only allowed one try, which occurred within the last 5 minutes of the match. The Terriers will go on to face Princeton next weekend in the first round of playoffs.
------------------------------------------------------------
BU vs. Northeastern University
10/22, 6:00pm, Northeastern University, Boston MA
This match proved to be an exciting and high scoring game for both sides, with BU ultimately pulling away with the victory at 42-25. BU's points were earned by both forwards and back line efforts, proving that the team showed and maintained intensity throughout the entire 15-player roster. Northeastern put up a good fight and capitalized on some BU mistakes to earn their 25 points, but they could not compete with BU's intensity and heart.
------------------------------------------------------------
Match vs Army
10/15, 5:30pm Boston University
On Saturday BU went up against the number 1 team in the nation, Army. Despite a final score of 51-0 the Terriers fought hard for the entire 80-minute match, making Army earn every point. BU came out with intensity and during the first 15 minutes of the game both sides did not score, and a great run by Alex Hubelbank almost led to BU scoring the first try. However, Army put up a solid defense and BU was ultimately not able to break through it. The BU forwards performed incredibly in the scrums and did their best to help the backs on defense. BU gave it their all for the whole game so that it was not an easy win for Army. The teams will most likely see each other again in Playoffs.
------------------------------------------------------------
Match vs Boston College
10/8, 12:00pm Boston College, Chestnut Hill MA
After a hard-fought 80 minutes, the match ended in a tie with each team putting up 19 points. BC came onto the field with great intensity, taking an early lead just 20 minutes into the game. The eagles ran hard, and put up a solid defense, making it difficult for the BU offense to gain much ground. In the second half however, BU reorganized their game strategy and made a rapid retaliation with 2 trys from Tiff Burks and 1 from Jordan Lavy. Deanna Nash made an unbelievable conversion from an extremely difficult field position to tie the game at 19-19.
------------------------------------------------------------
BU vs UMass Amherst
10/2, 12:00pm, Boston University, Boston,MA
We played our first season game and won 75-5.

BU at Stonehill College

New England Coed Dinghy Championship
4/14-4/15
The Boston University Dinghy Sailors finished 6th at the New England Coed Dinghy Championship and have qualified for the National Semi-Finals at the US Naval Academy on May 12-13. The top 18teams in New England competed at Harvard in the "Coast Guard Alumni Bowl" forthe 2012 New EnglandCoed Dinghy Championship. The top eight teams qualified for the NationalSemi-FinalCoed Dinghy Championship which will be held on May12-13 at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
The Terriers sailed well throughout the weekend against very strong competition. Skipper Matthew Johnson and crew Fiona Gordon won B Division while the A Division team of Ryan Pesch and Alejanda Higgins struggled at times but sailed well on Saturday afternoon and in the last set of the regatta with 6th and 2nd place finishes to secure a qualifying position. It was a total team effort over two full days of long courses and 36 total races. As the scoresindicate, the regatta was very close among the top teams throughout the entire competition, with thelast qualifying spot (8th) a tie between Brown and MIT, Brown winning the tie-breaker. The Terriers beat nationally ranked teams Brown (3rd), Tufts (9th), Connecticut College (15th),MIT (18th), and U. Vermont (19th) and will be very competitive at Semi-Finals at Navy.
Our strong finish should also bring Boston University back into the National Rankings.

BU Trophy
3/31/12 - 4/1/12, 9am-4pm, Boston University
Teams arrived at the BU Sailing Pavilion with a late report time and a grim forecast. Thankfully by the time the crew races had cleared the river the rain had slowed and the fleet hit the water at 11AM. 8 races in A and 6 in B were completed all on Course 4s in a shifty 6-10kt easterly that kept the fleet on its toes with long oscillations that made staying ""in phase"" important for a good finish. No protests of breakdowns were filed.
BU finished 1st out of 18 teams.

Southern Series Regatta
3/31, Salve Regina, Newport, RI
The BU Sailing women's team sailed A and B division at this co-ed event, against 19 other teams. They received 4th place overall.
At the starting line, if a boat is over the line early (before go) then the race committee calls the boat number and they have to go back and re-start. However both A and B division had one race in which they were over early and did not hear their number called, so instead of receiving the 4th place finishes they thought they got, they were scored as last place +1. Despite this blow to the score sheet, BU still got 4th place overall. If not for those scores they would have been in hot competition with Roger Williams and Tufts University, who tied for first place. Both divisions were proud to have consistent top-10 finishes all day long, which shows improved starting strategies and consistency in reading the breeze. They hope to earn similar results next weekend on their home 'turf'.

Boston Dingy Cup

Placed 9 of 18 teams. Competed against URI, Hobart, brown, Yale, BC, Harvard, tufts, coast guard, salve Regina among other schools. Saturday the breeze was between 6-8 and Sunday after post ponement until about noon we got very shifty light breeze fluctuating from 3 to 5 kts.

Eastern Regionals
2/25, 10am Sugarloaf, ME
The Mens and Womens team qualified to compete in the giant slalom race. They had a tough day finishing but did well overall. There was about 10 inches of fresh snow on the hill and the race got pushed back due to dangerous conditions. They ended up starting at 1pm instead of the intended 10am start and the entire field (all 300 racers) continued to slip the hill and move snow to ensure the safety of the course. The Race Jury finally decided to do a one run race and have the individual time of the run be the race results instead of a typical two run race. BU's athletes adjusted well to the conditions and were very cooperative through out a long day of delays.

Cranmore SL
2/12, 9am Cranmore, NH
The last Slalom race of the season. For the last run of the season everyone in the league dresses up in themed costumes. This year BU decided to Dress Up to Mess Up and skied through the course in dresses and suits. Looking classy as ever, the women's team finished 4th and the men's team finished 2nd. Being the last race of the season, they handed out individual awards and team awards. Both the men's and women's team ended up 2nd in our league which is on par for the women and a great improvement from the last 2 seasons for the men! I included the individual results for our racers that ended up in the top 30 for the league. This is an amazing accomplishment to have so many racers do so well. The field for the men is about 120 individuals and the women's field consists of about 140 girls. So for BU to have such a strong deep team is a great sign for our future. I'm excited to see what they can accomplish in the years to come.

Slalom at Bromley
1/22, 9am, Bromley Mountain Vermont
The first run course was extremely tricky today. The course had a combination that could have been correctly skied in two different ways which is unusual. Many racers were unable to ski through that section legally and many racers had to stop and hike back up to pass through a gate the correct way, giving them an uncompetitive time. Over 50 racers were disqualified in the first run out of a field of 210. Typically there is only 3-7 disqualified racers in a run. BU had a tough time putting two runs together to pull through the day but we had racers work hard again and came out alright. One of our racers, who we thought had been disqualified, ended up missing her second run start time and ran at the end of the girls. This gave her a course in less desirable condition but she still ended up scoring for our team!

The courses were challenging today but BU worked hard and put in a great effort. Both the Men's and Women's teams won! The Thompson division is very competitive and with our young talent, we were able to pull out wins on both sides. The fastest three racers for each team count towards the team standings (by position). For our women Katherine Scalia (7), Brooke Robertson (9), and Caroline Moore (16) scored and for the men Jerel Ward (2), David Villari (4), and Tim Anastas (13) scored.

Race 2 at Sunday River
1/8, 10:00am, Sunday River, ME
Every one had great first runs and was sitting in a good position to score well for the day. But the snow conditions took a turn in the afternoon and the second run track was just glazzed ice over a straight course and most racers in the league had a tough time finishing. BU racers pulled through and finished the course even if they had to hike multiple times.

Race 1 at Sunday River
1/7, 9:00am, Sunday River, ME
The team drove back from a week of training in Quebec straight to the first race. They performed great and even the beginners did well and made it through the course. Its was refreshing to see our new talent and the team has a lot of potential to do well this season.
Freshman Brooke Robertson placed second overall in the first day's slalom race, followed by Alex Vornle (junior) in fourteenth and Caroline Moore (freshman) in eighteenth. The men's race on Saturday went well with only one racer not finishing the course. Freshman David Villari skiied aggressively to place fifth over all, followed by Tim Anastas (junior) in twenty second and Jerel Ward (sophomore) in twenty eighth. The women's slalom on Sunday had the same top three finishers from BU, with Alex in twelfth, Caroline in fifteenth, and Brooke in twenty second. The men's race proved a little more difficult with a few racers being disqualified. David Villari finished eleventh, Tim Anastas finished thirteenth, and Dan Haut finished twenty second.

Snowboarding
Bromley Boardercross Weekend
2/11/2012 & 2/12/2012, Bromley Mountain, VT
After dealing with troublesome driving conditions up in Vermont, the conditions on the boardercross trail on Saturday were a big improvement. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Lawson for coming to our rescue and bringing cupcakes! The course included lots of rollers and drops and was really fun. The guys in Men's Jams were competitive with each other, pushing one another and joking around until they entered their gates and became serious competitors. For some of our guys, it was their third year competing, while it was a completely new experience for others. It was cool to see the experienced riders giving the new competitors pointers. The ladies in Women's Jams had a little more trouble mastering the course, but had it down for a solid final race on Saturday.
The riding conditions on Sunday were brutal to say the least, with high winds, freezing temperatures, and an extremely icy course. We had one nosebleed and a couple of good races, but were happy to get off the mountain. Thanks to Coach Howard for coming up and supporting us!" It seems like nobody can stop Avery Burton from taking home the golds, although Nick Canova and Corbin Kuntze were on his tail. We look forward to seeing Garrett Gilkey and Nicolas Nezhat out there next year now that they've got a year of experience. Emily Lawson took home the silver for the women, right behind a New Hampshire ski instructor who blew us all away. Rascha Jelks, Lindsey Shanks, and Kara LeFort hope to catch them next time!

Boardercross at Bromley Mountain
1/28/2012
This was our first boardercross competition of the year, so we got up to the mountain extra early. The conditions were icy after it rained at the end of last week, but everybody managed to do well.

Wrentham Duathlon
11/6, 8:30, Wrentham, MA
The BU Triathlon team traveled to the Wrentham Duathlon again this year for a final duathlon race before winter. The race was postponed from last weekend, but it still followed the "Halloween" theme. There was a Halloween costume contest and the finish line was adorned with Halloween decorations. We had five racers (all in costume), and we all had a great time running and through the hilly back roads of Wrentham. Everyone finished with solid finishing times, especially considering the costume malfunctions and distractions along the way. We hope to continue racing this race every year - a great race to contrast the intense collegiate triathlons during our regular fall season.
Olivia Kalmanson placed 3rd in her age group, Dave Berry placed 3rd in his age group, and Tess Timmes placed 2nd in her age group. Dave Berry also won the "Best Costume" award yet again this year with his exceptional Gingerbread Man costume and personality.

The BU Triathlon team had a great race this weekend at the MightyMan Sprint Triathlon. You can see the final results here (including each athlete's splits): http://nectc.net/results11/race_results.php?race=mightyman2011.
This being the last race in the season, the BU men's team placed 2nd place overall in the conference, and the women's team placed 4th overall in the conference for the 2011 racing season. Each team has won spots to the 2012 Collegiate Nationals Championship, and we will be deciding our teams for this race over the winter months.

We placed 18 out of 19 overall in the DIV I section, had a great time, and are glad we got the chance to attend.

Merrimack Scoobfest (B team tournament)
3/25, Merrimack University
BU-B beat Westfield State 13-10 and BC-B 13-11. We lost to Salem State 6-13 and Wentworth 2-10. Considering this was the first time the underclassmen were playing without any of the upperclassmen they performed quite well.
------------------------------------------------------------
Yale Cup

11/19-20/11, Bridgewater State University
BU Ultimate lost to UMASS Lowell, and UMASS Dartmouth (twice) but beat Providence College, Keene State, and the Lowell B team. We came in third in the tournament out of twelve teams after being seeded eighth so for our last tournament of the fall season we considered it useful and successful.

Women's Ultimate
College Series Sectionals
4/14 - 4/15, Boston College (Sat) and Tufts College (Sun)
All those practices in all kinds of weather and all the hard-core TTC workouts were all for this tournament! Lady Pilots fought their hardest for going to regionals.
We played in total of seven games. We did not do well in the first day because it took both the coach and the players to work well with each others after not being able to work together for several weeks. In the first game, we confronted MIT. All pilots wanted to win this game so bad but we did not find the morale that we had in the championship game in previous tournament and lost to MIT 4 to 11. Then we played against Boston College. This game was considered as a must win game. We started it out pretty strong and took half. However, BC never gave up while the pilots ran into problems in second half. BC had a huge come-back and won the game, 10 to 12. In the third game of the day, we played against second seed of the tournament-Northeastern. With all the negative emotion at that point, we lost the game again, 3 to 13. The frustration reach the peak at this game. Finally, in the last game against Harvard, the pilots rolled back. The coach also adjust the sub system to the way most pilots are more used to. Although we still lost this game 9 to 13, this game was the highlight of the day and definitely kept our spirit up.
Day two of the sectionals, we finished the pool play with a loss to the first seed Tufts, 2 to 13. We used this game to practice all our plays and warm up. Second game of the day, again against Harvard, we played a game that every single lady pilot could be proud of. The coach and the players finally could work well together and it was shown by this game. All the pilots had gave all they have in this game. We still lost the game with one point but we won the respect from the other team. Finally, in the last game, it is the most important game of the year. Win or home. That's it. Although we were all tired from the brutal game against Harvard, pilots still manage to work through the pain and fatigue and finally won the game, 12 to 9. I truly believe everyone had learned something from these two days of intensive playing. We will do better in the regionals!
------------------------------------------------------------
Casual Huck - UNH Tournament
4/1, UNH, New Hampshire
We played 6 games today and for those people who played yesterday as well, they played 11 games in total over the week. This is already quite an achievement. But the most excited part is that we almost won this tournament with only 10 pilots who were able to make it. That is very impressive. We started of really strong and beat the UNH B team with perfect score 13 to nothing. Then we played UMass Amherst. It was a pretty intensive game. We fought till last minute but still lost in universal point with score of 7 to 8. Then we won another game against Tufts B team with 13 to 1. Then moving on to championship bracket, we won the game against UNH 7 to 6 first. Then we confronted UMass Amherst again. However, this time we won by a lot, 13 to 7. Although they have a bigger team than us, they were not able to pull it through like the lady pilots. Lady pilots should really feel pride of themselves. Finally, we played against MIT for the first place. They are a traditional pretty well team. They are pretty experienced and athletic. Usually we put up an really good match on them but today when it was our sixth game already. However, we still played a high intensity level game. We lost by 2, 6 to 8. But it was really a great game and we were so close. Everyone learns something from this game and that is the real thing that our team really needs.
------------------------------------------------------------
Get Skyyd-Stonehill Tournament
3/31, 9am Stonehill College, Easton
We went 3-2 for the total of five games for the day. We won 2 games against Mount Holyoke and Bowdoin B. They are both not very experienced team. The score were 13 to 0 and 13 to 3. Then we finish the pool play with a lose to the first seed of our pool, Wellesley, by 4 points, 8 to 12. Then moving on to the bracket play. We first beat Holy Cross but then got beaten by Bentley with score 5 to 9. Overall, we played pretty well.
------------------------------------------------------------
Yale Cup
3/24- 3/25, Yale University, New Haven CT
I personally did not get a chance to attend this tournament but so proud of all the pilots who played. They all did well. We actually did not feel as ready for this tournament as we could have normally for tournaments because of several reasons. First of all, we just learned that we lost our van privilege so we struggle until last minutes to figure out the car issues. Also, we did not have outdoor practice for this week and this is the second USAU sanctioned tournament we played for the season. The results of all these games are more important than others that are not sanctioned because it will affect our sectional seeding and bids. Therefore, It is excited to find the lady pilots went out there strong and played great games against experienced teams.
The first game on Saturday was against Yale. We lost by 2 points, 7-9. This is actually pretty good considering Yale is such an strong team. We won game 2 against Bentley, 8 to 3. Then lost to Amherst Regional High School, 3 to 11. I know it must sound ridiculous that we lost to a high school team. However, ARHS is the best high school ultimate team in the nation. They have won the national championship a couple times and they often participate in college tournament which make the team really used to play against college teams. In fact, ARHS won the tournament, even beat Yale. We finally won the last game of the day against Boston College with 9 to 8. It was a good game. On Sunday, We played ARHS and got beat with huge score difference again, 3 to 12. I hope lady pilots just take the experience that they learned from playing such a skilled and organized team but do not get mentally destroyed by the score. We did not manage to recover from the frustration and got beaten by Bentley, 4 to 10. Placed fourth in the tournament. Overall, pilots should be proud of the result and learned from the experience. Next up will be two one day tournaments.
------------------------------------------------------------
High Tide
3/13 - 3/15, Brunswick, GA
This was the first three-day tournament that the team had ever been to. It was really hard to keep playing hard for three days but lady pilots did a fairly well job at adapting to the hot weather in Georgia and stay concentrate for three consecutive days. Although we did not do awesomely well as last tournament, the whole team still gained more game experience and improved upon that. We start out the tournament not as strong as we should have. The girls are still getting used to the heat. We lost the first and second game both by two against St. Mary and Wooster. We really need to work on staying focus and warm up well for our morning games. We also lost our last game against Rutgers, 3-12. It was a brutal lost. Although it was not really a fair match because Rutgers have their alumni players, we did not played our best as well. Plays did not executed well and the team moral was just really down. Then the second day of the tournament, we had four games scheduled but ended up with three games because Bentley decided to forfeit the last game of the day. We went 2-1 Wednesday. We beat Macalester 12 to 6. Second game against Carnegie Mellon was quite frustrated again. We never played them before and they were a pretty athletic team. Then we had a bye to rest up and recover from the lost. Finally, we ended the second day with a victory against URI, 13 to 6. It was a huge win for us. We played really really well in that game. Everyone played really hard even almost every part of her body was sore. We cheered each other up and the sidelines are involved in the game too. The communication was really good on the field and off the field. On Thursday, it was single elimination. So we had to play under the pressure. We started really early. The game started at 845. Again, the slow starting killed us. We should have won that game. Dickinson was not as experience as our team. The first half we played kind of bad. We tried to come back in the second half but it was too late. Dickinson finally won by 1 with the final score of 8 to 9. I believe we will only be better after this three day tournament.
------------------------------------------------------------
Diskfunctional Tournament
3/3 - 3/4, 9am Marlton, NJ
This is lady pilots' first tournament of the season. We went 6-1 and won the tournament.
The whole team was so excited for the first tournament of the season. We drove down to NJ Friday night and stay the night in two teammates' place in jersey. Saturday morning, 14 team lady pilots were ready to go. We started the day played against Princeton. It's a experienced team. The lady pilots definitely have the ability to win the match; however, we got into our old bad habit-not focus enough in the first game. We started off quite strong and forced them to call out a timeout by scored a couple points consecutively. After their timeout, their intensity level was turned up whereas pilots kinda just lost the focus and did not play well. Finally, we lost to Princeton by two. The good thing is that we are really a strong team that will build upon their experience. Our coach was there to point out all our shortcomings and then we worked hard to correct the mistakes in next point or next game.
We won all the games in the rest of the day. Two teams, Ramapo and SUNY, are not as experienced as us but we did not play down to their level. We beat both of them, 13 to 2 and 11 to 2, respectively. All the pilots played hard and played with great spirit. We used these two games against inexperienced teams to practice our new plays and later execute the plays better when we are playing against stronger teams. The last game of the day is the highlight of the day. That was really a game that pilots should be proud of themselves! We played against Philadelphia U. They are a pretty good team. They beat Princeton in universal point. The lady pilots just really came together as an great team in this game and destroyed them! The final score was 9 to 3. But the intensity and the attitude and confidence level were perfect. Even though the pilots are very tired at that time after 4 games in a row, every single player still ran their hardest to chase after the disc. The rookies really shined in this game as well. They have always been a great support but it just even more excited to see these new players improve tremendously! They all find the position that they are comfortable playing and this is probably the best thing we got from this tournament. Day two, we confronted Ramapo again and beat them again with an almost perfect score, 15 to 1. Then the championship game, pilots are all excited to play against Philadelphia again. We all knew that they wanted to beat us and win their home tourney. We played a even better game than yesterday. All the pilots learned a lot from Saturday's games and apply them all in this game. We made right decision, we played hard defense and shut them down completely. We ended the game 8 to 3. Overall, this was a great weekend for lady pilots. We will keep it up and have a fantastic season.
------------------------------------------------------------
Flickadelphia Tournament
11/12 - 11/13, 9:00am UPenn, PA
This is our last tournament of fall season. For one of our seniors, Marissa, who is going to graduate early this semester, it's her last college ultimate season. We drove down to Jersey and stayed in one of our captain's house on Friday night, then continue our total of 6-hour drive on Saturday morning to UPenn. The weather for the weekend in Philly was gorgeous and we were pumped up to play our game on Saturday and make it worthy for the long drive. However, after the first game got shut out by Casewestern college, we knew that we were not quite recovered from the fatigue caused by traveling. Also, the fact that some of our experienced players, including two of our seniors and one of the primary cutter, could not attend the game due to family factors and heavy academic work load kinda hurt our competence and morale somehow. We could have found a billion reasons to blame on, however, it is our own mistakes. We did not even play with our heart in the right places. We belittled the high school all star team that ended up beat us 3:12 in the last game of the day after another two loses to Upenn and Swarthmore. 11/12/2011 probably the worst and longest day that the Lady Pilots have gone through. We made a lot of mistakes that we shouldn't have been making at this point of time. We did not play our game at all. It was a brutal day. However, for the last three point in our last game against the high school all star game, we finally got back into the game and play our level of ultimate. Although it still didn't change the heartbreaking result of the day, it was a good start of our bitter learning process. After all the games, everyone sat in a circle and reflect to our performance. Everyone took turn to share what they learned for the day. We closed our eyes and visualize one goal for Sunday's games. It was a brutal day but I actually think it was a good experience for the Lady Pilots to have. We rather to go through all this heartbreaking day than to learn it in even harder and more costly way in Spring when every win and loses really matters. It was really exciting to see everyone's game face on Sunday. Everyone played really hard and gave their 100% performance for every point. We support each other and communicate each other. The lady Pilots' spirit was especially demonstrated in a marathon point in our first game on Sunday against Princeton. We got a billion awesome D's and we went for every disc. Although we lost that point at the end, I was very proud of the pilots, especially the underclassmen and rookies who played in that point. They never give up. We won the game 7 to 6. The last game of the weekend was against Rutgers, which is a really strong team. They won the game 1 to 8. However, every pilots should keep their head up after this game. This game really proved that we learned from Saturday's heartbreaking experience and apply it to our new games. Everyone really focus on working on the goal they set for themselves at the end of Saturday. Although we did not get to finish our fall season with an victory, I believe this experience definitely make the Lady Pilots a mentally stronger team. And that's what we need for becoming a better team in general. This tournament would become a motivation for all the pilots to work harder for our Spring Season. The real game begins now. Go Lady Pilots.
------------------------------------------------------------
Bentley scrimmage
11/9, 7:30pm-9pm Bentley college, MA
Lady Pilots won the scrimmage, 7 to 6. This is a good scrimmage to have before our last tournament in this semester this weekend. For those people who can not make it to this weekend's tournament, it's the only game for the week. They put their best performance for the game and leave it all on the field. One of our second year player who can't make it this weekend had her first lay-out of her life. Lay-out is always the most exciting play in Ultimate Frisbee. However, it takes determination and courage to lay out. Some players never have enough gut to dive into the ground for the disc. You kinda enter another level as an ultimate player after having your first layout. So this player's layout is basically the highlight of the night. It's also exciting to see the players who are going to the tournament this weekend practice all the plays and prepare themselves for the weekend in this scrimmage. After this scrimmage, the Lady Pilots are now officially ready to show their hard work in this semester. Go Lady Pilots.
------------------------------------------------------------
Brown Tournament
Saturday 11/05-11/06, Brown University, Rhode Island
Brown tournament is always one of the best tournament in a year because it's a costume tournament. How often can you see snow white, dwarves, ninja turtle and all those crazy characters chasing after a disc? Lady pilot's theme for this year was Snow White. Our two captains dressed up as Snow White and the witch, and the rest of the team dressed as dwarves, trees and all other random stuff. Besides all these fun from dressing up, the pilots actually gained a lot from this two-day tournament. Although the scores didn't reflects our improvement, everyone on the team really learned something from the games and have a lot to be proud of. We played 5 games in total and won one of them. The first game on Saturday was against Middleburry, which was the regional champion for last year. We lost the game, 3 to 13. The pilots kinda had a negative mind-set while confronting the team that eliminated us in regional last year. We didn't play well in this game. We didn't execute the plays as well as we can. Then we played Harvard for the second game of the day. We lost 3 to 13 again in this game. We did adjust some from the previous game however it was enough to bring down Harvard, a fast improving team. It is undeniable that playing against Meredith, Lady Pilots' former captain and now a graduate student study in Harvard, does bring impacts to pilots. However, some lady pilots take this fact as motivation to play better, which is pretty awesome and positive. In the last game of the day against Bentley, we applied all we learned from the previous two frustrated games and won the game 13 to 6. We really executed well a lot of plays that we practiced before and that was really exciting to see. The lady pilots started to play better from this game on. Although we lost both games on Sunday against UVM and Brandeis for 8 to 13 and 7 to 10, respectively. The lady pilots really work very hard for both games. A couple of sophomores really step up and play the big role of handlers and played it very well. Our communication, both on field and off field, was improved throughout the games. Everyone showed positive attitude and eagerness to learn. Our man defense was terrifying. We adjust really quick to other teams' plays and forced them to call time outs. Although some seniors didn't make it to Sunday, the lady pilots became more unifying. We just need to remember how we played for this second day of tournament and do that for every single tournament afterward.Overall, it was a nice and fun experience. The Lady Pilots would keep building our skills upon this and apply what we learned into next tournament, which would be in Philadelphia next weekend.

Yale Coffee Cup Tournament
10/29, Yale University, New Haven CT
Due to the heavy snow, the tournament was cancelled after we played two games. Also, we didn't get any rookies to play with us in this tournament. Those are the two down parts for the weekend. However, the Lady Pilots still got the most out from these two games.
We played the first game against Yale. It was windy and cold during the first game but it was still a playable weather for ultimate players. Yale is a strong team. It is a great experience to play against them because then we will really learned to play wisely, to make good decisions and go for every disc. The pilots could have beat this team if we didn't made so many mistakes in the beginning of the game and played our game from beginning for the whole game. The same applied to the second team as well. The second game was against Dartmouth, which is a team placed third in regional last year. They have complete and organized systems for both offense and defense. We were down 4 or even 5 points at the beginning of the game. However, as we learned from our mistakes and adjusts, we caught up little by little. The game got cut short because of the snow. We didn't get to complete our comeback but it was still very exciting to see how pilots improved and learned in one game, even in the horrible weather condition. As a result, we lost both games but we learned a lot from them. We practice different offense and defense plays by play against them. We also got to try out different players combination. Many returners pushed themselves to come out from their comfort zone and try out new things. These may not help the two games; however, it is going to make the team a much stronger team in long run. Moreover, it is very nice to have our A team coach so we can adjust right after we see the other team throw out a different play. I believe that the Lady Pilots are only going to improve and play better from this point.
------------------------------------------------------------
Olin Scrimmage
10/23, 2:30, Olin college
Olin is a new team. However, they are very athletic. It was a great opportunity for rookies to gain game experience. Our rookies made the lady pilots proud. Many of them came out to play hard and improved a lot in a game. Lady Pilots won the game with 15 to 2. We got a very good chance to apply our new plays in a real game, which is pretty awesome. Hope we can apply what we've learned in this game and our new plays to this coming weekend's tournament at Yale.
------------------------------------------------------------
UMASS Amherst Tournament
10/15-10/16, UMASS Amherst
Although we played in the club sectional at the very beginning of the season, UMASS Amherst is the first college tournament. We played against colleges team that we are very likely to confront again during the spring season. Everyone in the team gave their best performance and learned something from this two-day event. We have more than 15 girls came out to play for both days, which is pretty awesome. What is more awesome, we have 3 rookies join us and each scored at least once for the weekend.
On Saturday, we played three games in a row and ended the day early. We first played against Amherst first. It was the first game. We didn't play well at first but it got better as everyone get used to play with each other. We lost the game by two points but gain the momentum and started to get into the playing mode as a team. We played well in the following two games and end the day with two victories in a row, including a winning over Wellesley on a field in poor condition. It was even hard to walk on the field. However, lady pilots support each other and won the game by one point. The highlights of the day are definitely our rookies. They all played really hard and improved tremendously. They already have specific goals to work toward. On Sunday, the tournament schedule was messed up by teams dropping out. Therefore, we played round robin against Umass, MIT and Smith. We lost the first two games against Umass and MIT yet finished the tournament strong by beating Smith. The rookies kept playing very well.
Returners also stepped up as one of our captain, along with some other handlers, could not make it to second day. The pilots were able to throw some new defense and offense plays that we have not gotten a chance to thoroughly discussed yet. I personally think this is the best way to learn plays. In a word, lady pilots had great time in UMASS Amherst and are ready to work on the mistakes we discovered during the weekend.
------------------------------------------------------------
Alumni Game
9/11, 6:00-8:30pm, Nickerson Field
The alumni won. There was no final score because the game just went on to a friendly game at the end. Both alumni and current Pilots treasure this opportunity to play each other. It's an unique learning experience for all of us. The Pilots learn advanced skills from alumni and the alumni are impressed by Pilots' passion about the sport.
------------------------------------------------------------
New England Women's Sectionals tournament
9/10-9/11, Brown University, Rhode Island
After two practices, including the one in the rain, the Lady Pilots had their first fall tournament this past weekend in Rhode Island. The returners were all excited to play with their team mates after the long summer break and our rookies had a fun experience with Ultimate Frisbee.
Lady Pilots played a total of 7 games in this two-day event and came in 8th place (2-5). Although 8th place is not the best result we can get, the team had learned more than the place and score can measure. The pilots got to play with some up level club team. By playing with those great club teams helped us to discover our own problems and then to correct them in the games. We also had an opportunity to practice zone when playing against Bowdoin, another college team.
Overall, Lady Pilots gave the best they can get. It’s exciting to see the great improve from game to game or even from point to point. The Lady Pilots will keep playing hard and keep improving through the season.

Yankee Tournament
11/19, 9:0, Newton Armory
Men’s volleyball played in its second tournament of the year this past Saturday in an A/AA Yankee Tournament at the Newton Armory. BU finished with three wins, splitting two-game matches with one win each over “Set Me,” “Maine,” and Northeastern, and with five losses, losing twice only to ‘Blackout”. This was good enough for a third place finish in pool play but not quite good enough to make the playoff bracket. Despite the five losses, BU was very close to winning in each game, as no loss was greater than five points. Further, every BU player who dressed for the tournament was able to play and two freshmen were able to get their first playing experience with BU.
------------------------------------------------------------
Scrimmage vs Northeastern
11/10, 8:00pm FitRec, Court 4
BU Men won, 3-2 (29-31, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22).

The team made it to the second round of the single elimination bracket and was finally defeated by Kentucky, ending the tournament for the girls. Playing against teams from around the entire country can be a difficult things and there was a lot of competition. Overall the team played very well and ended up winning more games at nationals than they have in past years. It was a good team bonding experience, lots of fun, and a great way to mark the end of a good season.

Regional Tournament

This was the Regional League Championship Tournament and we ended up placing 6th overall. The first day consisted of two 5-team pools where the BU team faced Cornell (loss), Syracuse (loss), Northeastern (win) and Rutgers (loss). This placed BU fourth in the pool. The next morning they placed a crossover challenge match with the third place team from the second pool, Columbia (win), and came out victorious. This placed us in the gold bracket for the rest of the tournament and we were knocked out in the first round by the first seed team, UConn (loss). We then played Syracuse (loss) again in the consolation bracket for fifth place and lost, winding up placing fifth overall. This tournament was slightly challenging for us because of issues such as injuries and limited players. A lot of girls were playing out of their position for lack of players and performed very well considering. Overall we could have hoped for more in this tournament but it wasn't completely disappointing.

We ended up taking fourth place. Although we did not do as well as we had hoped, this first tournament showed our team working very well together. We have laid some very solid groundwork for the rest of the season and are excited to see the progress that we can make.
------------------------------------------------------------
Harvard Scrimmage
10/2, 12:00pm, Boston University, Boston MA
Our Volleyball team hosted a scrimmage against the Harvard team on our home court at BU. There were about 20 of them that showed up to play. We played four unofficial games to 25 until our court time was over. Harvard defeated us in the first three games: 18-25, 23-25, and 20-25. However, BU bounced back and was victorious in the last game: 15-25. Both teams mixed up their rotations a fair amount, trying to find the best possible combination as this was the first match either team had played this season. Our team started out a little shaky with new players and rotations on the court, but now that we know what works well, we are looking forward to the upcoming season.
