FitRec Student Employees of the Month

September 2009

AQUATICS

Kenai Hattori Ken Hattori

Kenai is our weekend evening guru. He is consistently here every weekend night keeping order in the pool. I want to recognize Kenai as he always is willing to help his co-workers out by covering shifts, working birthday party shifts or helping out in the last minute even when he has to run off to another job. He is a leader in the pool as well and helps his co-workers perfect their rescues. His reliability and generosity is a model for FitRec staff. Well done Kenai!

EMS

Jason Thole Jason Thole

Jason has been clutch, holding down the fort in the first aid room on Friday and Saturday nights. He hit the ground running at FitRec memorizing everything about the job and treating his patients with exceptional care. You may have also noticed his rock star performance for the BUEMS team at the Gladiator Games! So even as a new addition to our staff, Jason has left some big shoes to fill for the rest of our staff. Congratulations Jason and keep up the good work!

FACILITIES

Colleen Junco Colleen Junco and Alissa Doherty Alissa Doherty

For some, working at 5:45 AM is a punishment, but not for Colleen and Alissa, who both requested opening shifts this semester (Colleen has two and Alissa has three). Even early in the morning, Colleen and Alissa (who work together Monday and Wednesday mornings) have a great attitude and are friendly and helpful to anyone who walks in the door. Always team players, Colleen and Alissa often help their peers by covering shifts or staying late without complaint. Thanks to Colleen and Alissa for making early mornings a little brighter for everyone!

PRO SHOP

Devan Dumas Devan Dumas

Though she has been in the employ of the Pro Shop for only a month, Devan Dumas has already demonstrated that she has been a valuable addition. Devan is an exceptionally fast learner, hard worker, and always has a smile on her face for every member that comes to the Pro Shop. She is always early for her shifts and her flexibility in being able to help out her fellow staff members with their shifts has been an added bonus. It is rare that a freshman would make such an immediate and positive impact, but Devan is not your ordinary freshman. The Pro Shop looks forward to seeing what Devan has in store for month two and beyond.

INTRAMURALS

David Kim David Kim

David Kim works for the Intramural Sports program as a student supervisor for outdoor soccer, our programs most competitive sport. David was recently promoted to this post after working for several years as a student official and he has handled the transitional with ease. His presence and efforts in training clinics helped our student officials grasp our methods quickly and his on-field leadership has helped to make our first month a breeze. His desire to conduct our pre-season captains meetings helps further the success of our program as his grasp of rules and policies are equaled only by his rapport with the players. Due to his outstanding transition from official to supervisor, David Kim is our Intramural Sports Employee of the Month.

CLIMBING

Samantha Byrnes Samantha Byrnes

Sam has taken to her role as a Climbing Wall Supervisor like a fish to water. From her very first shift, her incredible work ethic and drive has stood out (as have her baking skills). She always offers to lend a hand, even when not completely comfortable with the task at hand, and approaches challenges with a great sense of humor and a smile. Sam truly embodies the demeanor and attitude of the position of Climbing Wall Supervisor, and is the standard all other staff should model. Please join me in congratulating Samantha Byrnes as our September Employee of the Month!

PERD ADMINISTRATION--RECEPTION

Dana Gaule Dana Gaule

Dana has continued to be a shining star in the PERD office. She is always friendly and accommodating to our registrants :) Dana always has a positive attitude and outlook. During September, Dana was an MVP. She remained composed during many Friday afternoon Intramural deadlines. Dana was faced with being the only student here during the rush and she kept calm and zipped through many a registration. She kept the IM registrants happy because she is so efficient. Thank you Dana for all of your hard work! Congratulations!!!

CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU!
