We are pleased to announce the September 2019 Employees of the Month!

Our student employees play a big part in making sure that your experiences at FitRec are nothing short of amazing. It’s certainly not easy balancing work and school, but our students make it look easy! We appreciate all of the hard work they put in and their great attitudes. Each month, full-time staff members from various departments nominate student workers who have shown exemplary work ethic within the past month. The winners for this month will receive gift bags, which include T-Anthony’s gift certificates and FitRec swag. If you see the winners around FitRec (or anywhere else on campus!), make sure to congratulate them!

Aquatics: Macella Molenari

Macella works hard for many hours each week as both an instructor and lifeguard, providing excellent attention to her students and our members. Macella has been helping all of the new staff adjusting to their positions this fall, as well as helping to keep the pool deck clean and safe. Macella is very approachable and well-liked by both the staff and our patrons.

Climbing: Kayla Chavier

Kayla has worked at the climbing wall for the past few years, and studies Modern Foreign Language Education and Spanish. She recently stepped up to join our routesetting team, and has shown her creative side and provides quality routes for our beginner climbers. Kayla is always punctual, reliable and consistently a great employee — we are happy to have her as part of the climbing wall staff!

EMS: Elana Everett

Elana has demonstrated a strong commitment to both the Operations and Education Departments of BUEMS, working extensively as  an instructor coordinator and as an EMT throughout the month. Elana has even volunteered to teach during continuing education classes for BUEMS Operations staff, and her contributions have been invaluable. Keep up the great work, Elana!

Facilities: Nneoma Stanley

Nneoma has always been a welcoming and friendly face to both FitRec patrons and coworkers. Student supervisors unanimously determined that she was a deserving returning staff member for EOM this month.

Fitness: Kurt Van Steerteghem

Kurt is a senior at BU studying International Relations and Swahili. He is a cadet in the Charles River Battalion Army ROTC responsible for training underclassmen cadets. This summer, he completed his Advanced Camp training and will commission in May as a 2LT. He is also a soldier of the 169th Military Police Company in the Rhode Island National Guard. At FitRec, he enjoys working closely with his teammates and taking the time to help members with any issue. His favorite part of the job is training new attendants and completing any special tasks his manager assigns him.

Intramurals: Adam Alters

Adam has been such a great team member for the Intramurals Department. As a supervisor, Adam is simply the man. He is reliable, smart and always willing to pick up shifts or help out his fellow colleagues. Adam has great work ethic and decision-making skills, which he applies every night he works. As they say, everyone should “be like Adam.” Congratulations, Adam! Here’s to many more great semesters!

PERD (Business Office): Ethan Sohn

Ethan is a junior in Questrom and a valued member of the Business team. Throughout the summer, Ethan spent countless hours working as the primary Finance and Payroll Assistant in the Business Office. Although new to the position, Ethan caught on quickly and has made an immediate positive impact on the department’s daily business operations.

Pro Shop: Daniel Daponte

Daniel has improved tremendously from his first year with us. He came back with a great attitude and has lead by example to the new staff and returners alike. His colleagues say he is an absolute pleasure to work with and enjoy working alongside him.
