Exit Counseling

Exit Counseling is a federal requirement for all Federal Stafford Loan recipients and Federal Perkins Loan recipients, and it is a state requirement for all Massachusetts No Interest Loan recipients. Exit counseling requirements were created to ensure that you understand your rights and responsibilities as a borrower. During the counseling, you will learn how to make payment of your loans easier and how to get help and protect your credit rating if you have problems.

Important note: Until you complete your Exit Counseling, your Boston University diploma will be withheld.

You can complete your Stafford Exit Counseling online at the federal studentloans.gov website.  Use your federal FSA ID (the FSA PIN replacement, effective 5/10/2015) to complete your exit counseling. If you have not set up your FSA ID user name and password, click on the link to create your FSA ID before you complete exit counseling.

You will receive instructions about the Perkins exit requirement by mail. Please contact the Student Loan Department with additional questions.

You can complete your Massachusetts No Interest Loan Exit Counseling online at the Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance.
