It is Boston University policy to expect information and financial support from both biological/adoptive parents of students applying to the University for financial aid.
The custodial parent is required to provide income, asset, and other information on both the CSS PROFILE and the FAFSA.
The noncustodial parent is expected to provide information on the Noncustodial PROFILE. If either parent has remarried, the stepparent’s information must be included.
Parents who live in the same household, regardless of legal status, or who reside separately for employment purposes only, are not considered separated, and information for both parents must be reported on the CSS PROFILE and the FAFSA.
When a divorced or separated parent contacts us on a student’s behalf, we ask for clarification regarding his or her status as either the custodial or noncustodial parent, so we can ensure the confidentiality of each party’s personal information.

If you have questions about the Noncustodial PROFILE, call CSS at 305-829-9793.
For questions about any aspect of the aid application process, contact the Office of Financial Assistance.
