Federal regulations and University policy require verification of information used to determine a student’s eligibility for financial aid.
If you are entering in September you will be asked in May after U.S. federal taxes have been filed to provide verification of your and your parents’ income. If you are entering in January you will be asked to provide verification of your and your parents’ prior year income by November 1st. The requested documentation will include:
- A complete copy of your U.S. federal income tax return *
- A complete copy of your parents’ U.S. federal income tax return *
- Copies of all of your parents’ W-2 forms
- Verification of any untaxed income
If you and/or your parents do not and are not required to file with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (I.R.S.), an Income Verification Form, with a statement of non-filer status, will be required.
Please note the special BU policy regarding how your aid application will be processed if you and/or your parents have not yet filed their income tax return and have requested an extension of the tax filing deadline with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (I.R.S.).
* As actually submitted to the I.R.S.
