Jennifer Grodsky is BU’s vice president for federal relations, working from Washington, DC, to strengthen the University’s ties to federal agencies and policymakers. Before joining BU, Grodsky was the executive director of federal relations for the University of Southern California (USC). She previously served as legislative director for then-Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis and legislative assistant for Congressman Julian C. Dixon. She is currently serving a three-year term on the board of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. Grodsky has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology from USC.
Emily Burlij is BU’s associate director for federal relations in Washington, DC. She works to build and maintain strong working relationships between BU and key policymakers in the federal government. Prior to joining BU, Emily served as a policy advisor at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. She also worked in the energy and natural resources division of a lobbying firm, and in legislative affairs for a large environmental nonprofit. Emily received her BA in Political Science from Villanova University, and her JD from Washington College of Law at American University.
Melina Luizaga is BU’s department administrator for federal relations in Washington, DC. She oversees the department’s daily operations, is responsible for preparing and monitoring the department’s budget, coordinates event logistics, and manages special projects for the office. Prior to joining BU, Melina served as the administrative assistant for USC’s Office of Federal Relations. She previously has worked as the practice administrative assistant for a private research and medical center in Arlington, VA, and as a special assistant to the executive director for a national nonprofit association in Alexandria, VA. Melina has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations from George Mason University.
