Edit Questions Screen
Search Text Box Search box

You can type any search term into the search box. The search is triggered when you click on the Search button or when you change the question status selector. The FAQ system searches for all of the entered search terms in both the question and the answer fields. The Clear button resets the search term, all selections in the tree control, and clears the search results.

If you've made selections in the tree control, the FAQ system uses those selections to filter the search results. Search terms are retained through all changes you make using the question status selectors and the tree control.

The search is case insensitive and terms can be partial words. You can exclude a specific term by preceding it with a minus (-) sign.

Please refer to the Admin Help for the tree control. The tree control works similarly in all parts of the Boston University FAQ System.

Question status selectors

Three radio buttons indicate the currently displayed question status. You can choose to display pending, published, or unpublished questions. The active selector is highlighted with a different font and background color.

When you change the question status selector, the search is automatically performed and all questions with the newly selected status that fall into the selection criteria specified by the search terms and the tree control are displayed in the search results.

When pending questions are displayed a Publish All button appears below the question status selectors. When you click the button, all displayed questions are published. If you want to publish one question at a time, use the Publish link to the left of the question.

Search Results Search results

The search results area displays all questions that fall into the selection criteria . Questions are ordered by department, topic, and subtopic. If a topic has no subtopics, all questions appear under the topic. Each group has a heading that shows the assigned department, topic, and if applicable, subtopic.

Result Area with Sample Question

Action links appear to the immediate left of the question. The Edit link opens the Question form for the selected question. When the Pending question status is selected a Publish link also appears to the left of the question, which allows you to publish individual questions.

The status line below the question displays the date the question was last reviewed, the BU login of the person who edited the question last, and the FAQ system question number.
