Physician Survey
The Lesotho-Boston Health alliance will be conducting surveys of all physicians
that are currently in practice in Lesotho. The information
from this survey is essential to obtaining important information
regarding the background, special skills, and areas of interest
of physicians practicing in Lesotho. This data will allow
the MOHSW, LMA, and LeBoHA to generate appropriate research
projects, continuing medical education opportunities, provide
a baseline for the next 5 years of projected growth, as
well as establish a mentorship program for Basotho medical
students.
If you have not received a survey by June 1, 2008 and are a doctor or dentist practicing in Lesotho, please

MOHSW Partners with Boston Medical Center
to Transform District Health Systems
The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare received a grant from the W.K. Kellog Foundation in January 2007 to develop a program that aims to provide site-based
continuing education to nurses and physicians currently
in practice, start a family medicine residency program,
and improve management capacity to strengthen district health
services. The program will recruit Basotho currently training
or working outside the country with a high-quality post-graduate
training program and will seek to retain them by providing
an improved practice environment and connections to colleagues
within and outside the country.
Boston Medical Center, as the Lesotho-Boston
Health Alliance, is leading implementation with the support
of many local partners. The Lesotho Medical Association
is seeking the support and participation of all practicing
physicians and Basotho medical students in this comprehensive
program to improve the health care services offered in Lesotho.

This event takes place the last Wednesday of every month at the Lehakoe Club.
