About the Faculty

John Wiecha, MD, MPH

Dr. Wiecha is the Director of Predoctoral Education and Direction of eLearining in the Department of Family Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. He received his MD from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and M.P.H from the University of Massachusetts. He completed residencies in Family Medicine and in Preventive Medicine at the University of Massachusetts.

Dr. Wiecha has received a number of awards and fellowships, including the American Cancer Society Cancer Control Career Development Fellowship, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Generalist Physician Faculty Scholars Award, and the University of Massachusetts Fellowship in Asian-American Studies. Dr. Wiecha has developed a number of distance education courses, including courses on diabetes, EBM, and communication skills, and is currently helping the World Health Organization develop a world-wide training program on antenatal care.

Milagros C. Rosal, PhD

Dr. Rosal is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine, Department of Medicine at University of Massachusetts Medical School. Her research interests include:

• Treatment adherence
• Health behavior change (smoking, diet, physical activity)
• Stress
• Women’s health
• Minority health
• Adjustment to chronic illness
• Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease prevention
• Diabetes self-management
• Mood and anxiety disorders
