Boston and Surrounding Area

Boston has long been recognized as one of the leading health care centers of the world. With more than 40 teaching and community hospitals along with countless other health care facilities, the health care industry is a major employer in the Boston area. The city is also known for its strong network of health centers that serve the needs of neighborhood communities.

Boston is rich in history, old-world charm, and modern vitality. The site of many significant events in early American Colonial and Revolutionary history, Boston retains much of that early flavor in its cobbled streets and historic landmarks. As a historic seaport, Boston has also been the entry point for many immigrants. You can experience Boston's diversity just by following the Freedom Trail which will take you through the Italian North End, Faneuil Hall, Chinatown, Beacon Hill, then on to a Swan Boat ride in the Public Gardens.
As well as history, Boston is also a showcase for the arts. The Boston Ballet, Boston Symphony and Pops are all located in the heart of the city, as well as the world-renowned Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. If science is more your taste, then hop over to the Museum of Science with its interactive exhibits, the Computer Museum or the New England Aquarium, one of the foremost in the world.

For the hiker or skier, the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont are but a few hours away by car, as are the picturesque shores of Maine. Beaches to the north and south, including the famous shores of Cape Cod, are within easy reach by car or bus.

A splendid place to study, work, or just relax, Boston is consistently voted one of the most desirable US cities in which to live.
