Overview
We offer Family Medicine programs to medical students in each of their four years at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), including the Introduction to Clinical Medicine Family Medicine option for first and second year students, the required Family Medicine Clerkship for third year students, and a variety of Family Medicine electives for internal and external fourth year students. Our popular Family Medicine Summer Externship is available to BUSM students between their first and second years. Students in any year may join our very active Family Medicine Interest Group (even if you don't plan to go into Family Medicine!). Our FMIG facilitates several free workshops and seminars throughout the year to help students learn about family practice and to prepare students for the residency application process.
We supplement many of our student programs with an online component
that helps to foster communication among students and faculty
while students are off learning and practicing at community
clinical sites. To learn more about our distance education
courses visit our Distance Education
for Health web site by clicking the link, below.
