Shall consider issues of academic freedom and encourage an open University.

Shall review, gather relevant materials, evaluate, and recommend to the Faculty Council any issue related to the appointment, reappointment, promotion or the granting of tenure, to faculty members in any school or program in the University.

Shall consider issues related to developing or ensuring appropriate representation of any minority on the Boston University faculty and shall consider issues pertinent to, and influencing University women which are brought to the attention of the Committee by faculty individuals, groups, or Faculty Council.

Faculty Advisory

Shall provide confidential, neutral, and informal assistance to faculty who have concerns arising from or affecting their work at B.U., shall observe and report to the Faculty Council the activities of the Faculty Grievance Committee, shall make faculty aware of this service, shall hold orientation sessions for new faculty each year, and shall make recommendations to the Faculty Council pursuant to the well-being of the faculty.
