Sign Shop

The walls of the Sign Shop at 120 Ashford Street are covered in nameplate mock ups, renditions of Rhett, samples of the BU logo, and signs for parking, special events, and “pardon our appearance during construction.” The smell of vinyl, paint, and metal mingle together.

The University Sign Shop is capable of producing a wide variety of signage for campus needs. The metal nameplates outside offices, the A-frame sidewalk signs for athletic events and parking restrictions, vinyl directional signs for special events, and the red address signs with gold leaf lettering adorning the front of University buildings all emerge from this small, busy shop.

The sign painter creates and designs campus signage using consistent formats and type styles for formal and directional signs. The sign painter also is capable of creative signs for special events such as the Farmer’s Market at the GSU, employee recognition plaques and awards, and engraving. Signage for Move-in, Move-out, alumni events, and Commencement are major functions of this shop. Legible signs in an effective and attractive format are important for the many visitors to our campus as well as its denizens.
