The Claflin Hall renovation project remodeled student rooms and hallways that were constructed in 1962-1963. Built-in furnishings, electrical systems, and finishes were replaced with movable room furnishings, electrical capacity that meets student needs, and modern room and hallway finishes. These renovations significantly improved the living environment of over 600 students and are part of an ongoing program to renovate nearly 3,600 bed spaces in the West Campus, Warren Towers, and the Bay State Road Towers complexes.

Sustainability

Construction projects involving demolition include recycling woods and metals from the materials that are removed. Low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) paints are standard, as is carpet manufactured from recycled materials and energy efficient lighting.
