Joan and Edgar Booth Theatre & Boston University Production Center – Construction Activity – 7/14/17 – 7/31/17
For July 14, 2017 through July 31, 2017:
- Permitted by the Town of Brookline and in accordance with the approved Construction Management Plan, authorized work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday work schedules must be requested and approved by the Town.
- Brookline Police details will continue to be posted at the two construction site entrance gates, one at Essex Street and one at Dummer Street, to ensure public safety. The safety of our community is our highest priority, so we ask that you please pay close attention to posted signs, police, and safety personnel.
- Completion of glass, metal, and wood wall panels on the exterior of the Production Wing
- Finishing and painting of walls in the interior of the Production Wing
- Metal stud framing and placement of doors in the Theatre Building and installation of plumbing and electrical utilities
- Metal stud framing and placement of utilities in fourth level walls
- Fire proofing placement is ongoing on the third and fourth levels
- Rigging of ceiling-mounted support brackets for the equipment in the light and sound lab on the third level is underway
- Removal of the existing paving in the west parking lot is nearly complete, and installation of required drainage structures is underway
- Development of the north building façade is underway
Key Construction Activities
- Place stone base at Production Wing exterior walls and select locations beneath the metal panels
- Complete exterior installation of structural panel support steel at the Theatre Building walls
- Complete curtainwall assemblies at all openings of the Production Wing
- Hoist rigging in light and sound lab on level 3
- Start-up and balancing of mechanical equipment in the Production Wing is on-going
- Begin installation of monumental glass wall in the north plaza, toward Commonwealth Avenue
