BU Theatre Center – Construction Activity – 7/15/16-8/7/16

For July 15, 2016 through August 7, 2016:

  •  Site preparation and enabling construction activities will continue as permitted by the Town of Brookline and in accordance with the approved Construction Management Plan.
  •  Authorized work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  •  Parking and access to the site is closed to the public and University faculty and staff through the end of the project – projected to be in August 2017.
  • All University deliveries to 808 Commonwealth Avenue must use the Essex Street loading area and freight elevator.

Key Construction Activities

  • July 16th weekend (Saturday) – Work is scheduled to occur on the site Saturday, July 15th.  W.L. French, the sitework contractor, and JC Higgins, the plumbing contractor, will be installing piping below grade for the storm and sanitary plumbing lines. Chapman Construction will also be working this Saturday at 808 Commonwealth Avenue. Chapman has received a permit to hoist HVAC equipment to the roof of 808 Commonwealth Avenue between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. A crane will be set up next to 808 Commonwealth Avenue on Essex Street. The southbound lane next to the building will be closed during this time. While the crane is swinging above the side walk (9 a.m. – 11 a.m.), the sidewalk and the east door to the building will not be accessible. Entrance to the building during this work will be at the south side of the building next to the loading dock.
  • July 16, 2016 through July 22, 2016 – Dummer Street utility work will be ongoing at the sidewalk area for the tel/data lines. Dummer Street will be reduced to a single lane of traffic. Brookline PD details will be posted along Dummer Street.
  • July 11, 2016 through August 1, 2016 – Pile driving for the support of excavation has begun.  This pile driving operation will continue for the next 6 to 8 weeks.
  • July 18, 2016 – Demolition of the access ramp from Commonwealth Avenue will begin and be ongoing for 2 weeks.
  • Now through August 31, 2016 – Demolition, excavation, trenching, and all underground site utilities installations will be ongoing through the summer months.
