Joseph P. Mercurio
Executive Vice President
Since joining BU in 1973, Joseph P. Mercurio has spearheaded the expansion of our two campuses to 133 acres and given the University a sound financial foundation; that has been central to pushing our endowment above $1 billion for the first time.
As executive vice president, Mercurio is BU’s chief administrative officer. He has responsibility for a budget of approximately $2 billion; broad policy initiatives; campus planning and construction of over $2 billion in new facilities, representing a 9-million-square-foot increase in the University’s physical plant; and athletics and recreation programs, including a state-of-the-art fitness center used by 5,000 students every day.
