European Studies Lunch Talk: German Unification: Myth vs. Reality

Lesia Kovalenko is Associate Professor of the World History and International Relations at Zaporizhzhya National University (Ukraine) and Fulbright Visiting Researcher at Boston University's Center for Europe. Her presentation will analyze the perception of public perceptions of German unification in mass media and American cartoons.

Agata Pyzik is a Polish journalist who divides her time between Warsaw and London. She is a frequent writer on art, politics, music and culture for various magazines, including The Wire, Guardian, New Statesman, New Humanist, Afterall and Frieze. Her presentation will center on her new book: Poor but Sexy: Culture Clashes in Europe East and West (or, How the East stayed East and the West stayed West).
