European Studies Minor

Students minoring in European Studies choose courses from the following tracks:

Requirements

Six Principal Courses

  • Two courses from one of three tracks (see above)
  • Two courses from another track
  • One course from the remaining track
  • An interdisciplinary capstone course, usually taken in the senior year

A grade of C or higher must be obtained in all courses. No more than three of the courses applied toward the minor may focus on a single country. Two courses from the Middle Ages and early modern period may substitute in any track, with advisor permission.

A minimum of three courses for the minor must be taken in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). With advisor approval, up to three courses taken in Europe (with the exception of internships) may be applied toward the requirements for the minor.

Language Proficiency

In addition to the six courses above, students minoring in European Studies must be reasonably proficiency (five semesters or equivalent) in a European language other than English.
