Christine Noll Brinckmann

Avant-garde German filmmaker Noll Brinckmann was born in China in 1937 and brought up in Germany. During a stay in New York in 1979 she acquired an interest in film-making. She now lives and works in Zurich. Her films include Die Urszene (The Primal Scene), Ger, 1981 (6mins); Dress Rehearsal & Karola 2, US/Ger, 1980-81 (14mins); and Empathie und Panische Angst (Empathy and Panic Fear), Ger, 1989 (38mins). These three rare films extend the relationship between identity, psychoanalysis and filmmaking itself in painstakingly observant, witty, and moving studies. (2009)
