Sophomore Strategie
s is a program designed specifically for sophomores who want to get the most out of their second year. The program is founded on weekly one-on-one meetings with coaches from the Educational Resource Center and key campus partners including the Center for Career Development, University Service Center and Residence Life.

You may have made it through your first year, but just because you are staying afloat doesn’t mean you don’t struggle every now and then. You may want to improve your academic performance, talk about professional options or just feel more connected to your university community.

Enter Sophomore Strategies. You will be matched with an academic coach at the Educational Resource Center or at one of our partner offices on campus. Use the first weekly meeting with your coach to discuss issues you want to focus on during the semester. Your coach will share a list of workshops and programs being offered across campus that are geared towards your academic, professional and developmental success in college and beyond.

You decide which programs you want to attend based on your priorities and goals. You’ll have the opportunity to meet with your coach weekly, so use the time to compare notes on the workshops you’ve attended, catch up on challenges and successes in your coursework or work on specific skills that will help poise you for stronger academic performance and a sharper sense of your professional development.

We are currently inviting Sophomores who have below a 2.3 cumulative grade point average. If you don’t fall within this category, but want to participate in Sophomore Strategies, fill out the application anyway. We’ll review it and use the information you provide to make sure you’re aware of campus resources you may find useful. If there are seats in the program, we’ll invite you to join us in the spring.
