If you are looking for a tutor in a course taught in the Modern Languages and Comp. Lit. department, please consider the following guidelines before you sign up for our services.

What an ERC Modern Language Tutor CAN help you with:

• Gaining a better understanding of the grammatical structure of the language you are learning.
• Refining your knowledge from week to week.
  • This will help you keep up with the material more consistently rather than trying to cram at the last minute.
• Gaining a better understanding of the intricacies of the language.
  • There are many subtleties to languages, such as pronunciation and colloquialisms.
• Elevating your ability to speak and read in the language you are learning.
• Reviewing a draft brought to a tutoring session.
  • By reviewing a paper, a tutor can look at specific grammar points, the overall theme of your paper, writing style, consistency in your composition, etc.
  • Reviewing is NOT proofreading.
  • Please note that this draft will be marked and signed by the tutor in pen. You, the student, must submit this signed draft to your professor along with your final draft.

What an ERC Modern Language Tutor CANNOT help you with:

• Proofreading. Tutors will not accept compositions or similar work for the sole purpose of editing.
• Identifying every incorrect aspect of your work.

Modern Language faculty support and recognize the value of students’ working with ERC tutors provided all parties adhere to the policies and procedures set forth by the ERC for language tutoring.
