Contingent Aid Program

For students who receive Contingent Aid, participation in the Educational Resource Center’s Contingent Aid Program is mandatory. The Contingent Aid Program (CAP) is designed to assist you in developing and implementing your academic goals for the coming academic year. The Program is a collaboration among the Educational Resource Center (ERC), the University Service Center (USC), the Office of Financial Assistance (OFA), and the academic advising department of your College or School.

Contingent Aid Program students are required to sign-up and attend one session of the Academic Recovery Workshop in September. Students must sign-up on-line for one of these workshops; students should call or visit the ERC during the first week of class if they have difficulty signing-up.

At the workshop, you will be assigned to a CAP Mentor with whom you are required to meet at least two more times during the fall semester to discuss your academic progress. Your CAP Mentor will assist you to develop a strategic plan that meets your particular academic needs.

The ERC has many services that may be of interest to you as you work to achieve your academic goals. Peer tutoring, a writing center, foreign language conversation groups, and a workshop series are examples of the academic support programs offered at the ERC.

Your academic success is our common goal. By participating in the Contingent Aid Program, you are taking the first steps toward achieving that goal. We are looking forward to working with you. Do not hesitate to contact the ERC with your questions or concerns.
