14th Annual Raphael Miara Patient Safety Symposium

  • Starts: 12:00 pm on Wednesday, October 24, 2018
  • Ends: 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 24, 2018
There is a need for training in all aspects of patient safety including simulation, communication, and understanding the root-cause of medical errors. Our review of critical incidents in our institution and the literature in general reveals a need for innovative and effective educational interventions. This presentation provides an overview of a new innovative textbook in patient safety titled OK to Proceed: What Every Health Care Provider Should Know About Patient Safety. This book is the first in patient safety to combine richly illustrated text with graphics, video, and animations, and engages the learners in a review of important lessons on patient safety. By capitalizing on the power of multimedia it fills a teaching gap.
