FIRST Scholarship
The
Award:
Boston University
has established a half-tuition scholarship for students who have
participated in the FIRST Robotics program. This merit-based scholarship
is available to a senior in high school who has participated at
least one full season in high school with a FIRST robotics team
and who has applied and been admitted to the Boston University
College of Engineering. The Boston University FIRST Scholarship
recognizes students with outstanding academic ability.
The annually
renewable scholarship can be applied for a maximum of eight semesters,
provided the student completes at least 12 credits each semester,
maintains a 3.20 minimum annual grade point average, and remains
in good disciplinary standing. BU FIRST Scholars will also receive
funding for up to 10 hours per week to participate in a research
program with a College of Engineering faculty member for one semester
in the first two years of study. Additionally, BU FIRST Scholars
who maintain an overall grade point average of 3.40 are guaranteed
admission to a Boston University College of Engineering Master
of Science program. Award recipients are expected to contribute
to mentoring Boston University's FIRST team.

The College
of Engineering is a community of students, faculty, and staff
dedicated to educating the engineers of tomorrow and advancing
the frontiers of science and technology through research and discovery.
The College offers a variety of programs leading to the Bachelor
of Science (BS) in Biomedical, Computer, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, and Mechanical with a concentration in Aerospace or Manufacturing. All students follow
a common core curriculum for the first two years which provides
the rigorous foundation needed for more advanced study in the
major.
The College
offers many special programs like an optional cooperative education
program; the ENGMEDIC program (an early selection program for
medical school leading to a BS in Engineering and an MD from the
Boston University School of Medicine); a unique study abroad program
designed specifically for engineering students; and a BS/MS program
(leads to bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering after
four or five years of study). In addition, the College is home
to numerous research centers and laboratories that offer undergraduate
students outstanding opportunities to become involved in faculty
mentored research programs.
