Introduction
The faculty
and staff of the Boston University Photonics Center
, in collaboration with the Electrical & Computer
Engineering Department of the College of Engineering
, are pleased to announce an interdisciplinary
National Science Foundation Research Experience for
Undergraduates (REU) site program in photonics. Boston
University 's Photonics Center is a national leader
in the science and engineering of light and its applications
to engineering, chemistry, biology, and medicine.
We offer an outstanding, internationally known faculty
and exceptional modern facilities, in the heart of
the Boston high-tech community.
Students entering sophomore, junior or senior year in
any engineering, mathematics or natural science discipline,
including students entering their last year in a two
year college technical program, are eligible for this
exciting ten-week mentored research experience. Students
will receive a stipend, free on-campus housing, and
a lab budget. Some travel awards, based on need, are
available.
Women and underrepresented minorities are especially
encouraged to consider this interdisciplinary program
and its strong program of training and research skill
development.
