Leila Ben-Gacem (’91) spent nine years at Hewlett-Packard’s Medical Products Division. At first, Leila was in sales and support and she later moved on to business development. Leila was working between Tunisia and Germany and she recently accepted a position as Change Management consultant for OXIA, an IT start-up in Tunisia. John S. Brader (’95) of Columbia, South Carolina, was named the 2001-2002 Society of Automotive Engineers Doctoral Scholar for his research on camless internal combustion engines. John was also awarded a 2001-2002 National Science Foundation Fellowship and the 2002-2003 NASA/South Carolina Space Grant. Susan V. Collins (’90) of Culver City, California, is a consultant who creates financial models and provides management advice on municipalities’ environmental programs. In 1997, Susan received an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA. In 1993, she married Todd Johnson, an advertising photographer (tjphoto.com), and the couple has a son, Simon, who was born in 1999. Karen Curran (’92), formally Karen Roquemore, of Houston, Texas, married Andrew Curran in April 1997. Fellow alumni in attendance included Marlyse Merida (CLA’95), Renee Lebrecque-Letendre (SAR’92), Peter Letendre (ENG’91), Gregg Rosenstein (ENG’92), Lenny Linardakis (ENG’92), Terry Walsh-Linardakis (CLA’92), Mara Lieblich-Powell (ENG’92), Helen Nakos (ENG’92), and Jennifer Glover-Greco (SED’88). The couple’s first daughter, Allison, was born in April 1999 and their second daughter, Meghan, was born in February 2001. Nirav Dagli (’92 GRS ’95) of Boston, Massachusetts, is a partner at Spinnaker LLC, a venture management company in Boston. Thomas Gennosa (’89) works as a family physician in Williamston, North Carolina. He is recently engaged to Lisa Shick of Ohio, and the couple is planning a beach wedding in 2003. Jason C. Kedzierski (’96), stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, remained there through the holiday season while he worked at the Naval Pacific Meteorology and Oceanography Center (METOC). He and 220 other sailors and naval officers at METOC provide ship routing and en route weather forecasting services, which are critical during the dangerous typhoon season, to naval forces in the Western Pacific.

Alex D. Konde (’88) and his wife Pamela are pleased to announce the birth of their first child, Sophia Juliana Konde, who was born on the 10th of October in Alexandria, Virginia. Jeff Lincoln (’88) recently completed a deployment to South America as Officer- in-Charge of a SH-60B helicopter detachment aboard U.S.S. Monterey. To complete his department head tour, Jeff is assigned to a squadron based in Jacksonville, Florida. Jeff writes that he would like to hear from former “Snake Pit” residents. Roger McTighe (’55) originally from Winchester, Massachusetts, and presently of San Diego, California, retired in 1983 after thirty years as a Naval Officer and Navy Pilot flying Patrol, Helicopter, and Fighter aircraft. Roger was in aerospace marketing after retirement until 1990 and is presently Senior Vice President of Business Development for the North Island Financial Credit Union in San Diego, California. Donald L. Slack (’54) of Arvada, Colorado, retired after three years in Army Aviation, ten years working on light aircraft, nineteen years working as a line mechanic at Frontier Airlines, and thirteen years working as an inspector for Northwest Airlines.

Vanessa I. Vera (’97) of San Juan, Puerto Rico, married Matthew A. Schickler (ENG ’97) in 1998. The couple has a son named Alexander who was born this past September. Vanessa works as a program manager for Raytheon Company in Andover, Massachusetts, and Matthew is a Principal Software Developer at Quantum Bridge Communications, also in Andover.
