A MESSAGE OF THANKS FROM THE ENG ALUMNI OFFICE

Thank you for your loyalty and your generous donations to the College of Engineering last year. Whether you are a graduate, friend, parent, or current student, the College depends upon you and is deeply grateful for your volunteer and financial support. Restricted and unrestricted gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations enable the College to maintain its international reputation, recruit the finest faculty, maintain state-of-the-art laboratories, and offer rewarding undergraduate and graduate academic programs, research opportunities, and fellowships. Those of you who volunteer your time for the College help equally by strengthening the connection between alumni and their college. These many gifts of time and money attest to the strength of the College of Engineering family.

Gifts received in fiscal year 1999, as well as in our current fiscal year, helped finance these projects:

• Dean's Fellowships

• Renovation of the Engineering research building lobby

• Construction of a multi-media conference room for distance education courses and teleconferencing

• Renovation of several student laboratories

• Equipping of laboratories for newly hired faculty

Alumni volunteers provided crucial support for the following events and services:

• Career Decisions 2000

• The College of Engineering Alumni Board's second annual wine dinner

• The College's Career Development Office, by providing networking and professional opportunities for undergraduates and alumni

• The annual scholarship exam held in November

• Career Fair

• Biomedical Engineering Class Agent Program

Among the most rewarding aspects of working in the College's Development and Alumni Relations Office is meeting with alumni and sharing in their success stories. As an alum of the College, you are a vital component of its history. We look forward to connecting with many of you in the coming months, and hope you'll be in touch to share your stories with us.
