Get ready to register for classes

  1. Set up your BU email account. All your program, class and department communications will come thru your BU email. If you have a BU email account, continue to use it.
  2. Contact your faculty advisor or academic program manager to discuss your course plan.
  3. Register for your courses via the BU Student Link website.
  4. Link your Account to College of Engineering Resources. Linking your account provides access to ENG resources like the shared and personal drives, our Citrix application server, and our room access system Zaius. Note: You must have activated your BU e-mail address in order to get connected. Once you have successfully completed the process you will be taken to a confirmation screen that says “Your request has been approved.” You will not receive a confirmation email. Save the Date:

  1. New Graduate Student Orientation is Friday, August 30, 2024. Watch for invitations to orientation from the Graduate Programs Office and your department.
  2. It is required that you attend orientation. The RSVP link will be up shortly.

Setting up BU compliance in your Student Link. Be sure to:

  1. Update or input your phone number.
  2. Update or input your local address.
  3. Electronically sign the Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Law acknowledgement form.
  4. If you want to opt out of the Sports Pass, cancel this pass.
  5. BME-MEng only: Complete the steps for additional Boston Medical Center requirements provided by the BME department.

Health Insurance

  1. Provide required immunizations and health records to Student Health Services.
  2. Select a health insurance option through the Student Link or submit an opt out form with the required documents to Student Account Services.

Financial Assistance

  1. Domestic Master’s students only. If you are interested in federal or private financial assistance, fill out your FAFSA and submit it to code:002130. Connect with the Associate Director of Financial Aid in the Graduate Programs Office.

When you arrive on campus

  1. Turn in final official transcripts, to the Graduate Programs Office. Transcripts show that your previous degrees have been conferred.
  2. If you need a MBTA or parking pass apply for a pass through BU’s transportation webpage.
  3. Get your BU ID. It’s called a Terrier card after BU’s mascot, a terrier dog.
  4. Get a Student Associate of Graduate Engineering (SAGE) sticker to attend SAGE events. Come to the Graduate Programs Office, and bring your ID.
