Cap & Gown Information

Everyone who participates in an academic ceremony on Commencement Day is required to wear a cap and gown as approved by the University.


Commencement Photos Inc. photographs every student who receives a degree on stage during the ceremony. If you do not receive information in the mail by the end of April, feel free to contact them directly via their website at www.commencementphotos.com.

No, there is no limit at College of Engineering Ceremony at the Track and Tennis Center. We do require that you let us know how many people you plan to bring to the ceremony, so that we can properly prepare for the event. Eligible seniors must log on to http://www.bu.edu/dbin/eng5/graduation/ugrad/ to complete the form noting this information by a date to be determined.

No tickets are required for either ceremony. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

We do need to know you/your guest’s requirement in advance. Families should contact Disability Services to discuss their specific needs by May 1st.

No, there is no rehearsal for either ceremony.

For the main ceremony, it is recommended that guests arrive by 12:00 pm. For the College of Engineering ceremony, 9:00 am.

It is the non-denominational religious service for those interested; attendance is not required.

No, it is not required but strongly encouraged.

The ceremony lasts approximately an hour and 45 minutes.
