BU ranked third-fittest college in America

SAR offers new nutrition courses at Fitrec

By Brian Fitzgerald

"Warin Dexter has known for years that BU students were into physical fitness, but when he saw that the University was recently ranked the third-fittest college in America in a survey conducted by Men's Fitness magazine, he couldn't help but smile — from ear to ear.

Men's Fitness , working with the Princeton Review , surveyed more than 10,000 students from 660 colleges and universities and released its rankings in its October issue."

Dining Services fights "menu fatigue"

By Jessica Ullian

"The more than 400 full-time employees of Boston University's Dining Services aren't fazed by the idea of cooking 17,000 meals each day, or cleaning up an equal number of place settings. They can handle the culinary needs of carnivores and omnivores and accommodate students celebrating Passover and Ramadan. They can explain the difference between a vegetarian and a vegan. But they just can't tolerate tedium."

National Survey about Engineering

from the Society of Women Engineers

Boston University , along with a number of leading universities, has agreed to participate in an important survey conducted by Harris Interactive, best known for The Harris Poll. Your input will allow us to learn more about what is happening in the world of engineering in order to learn where potential changes in the discipline might be necessary.

As a graduate of Boston University , your participation is crucial to the success of this project. We are interested in everyone's experiences, even if have never actually worked as an engineer or are not working now. The findings will enable us to better understand the experiences of our alumni on important topics regarding engineering.

The survey should only take about 15 minutes to complete.

As a token of our appreciation of your time, Harris Interactive will be sending you a brief summary of some of the key findings from this research so you can see what others in the field think.

Please be assured that the data gathered will be confidential and will be reported in the aggregate only and your name will never be associated with your responses.

Alumnus Addresses AME Students

Luke Colby

AME '03

College of Engineering alumnus Luke Colby returned to campus September 9, 2005 to speak with Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering students.

Colby spoke about his work as a propulsion engineer at Scaled Composites, an aerospace and specialty composites development company located in Mojave, California.

Though much of the information regarding the specifics of SpaceShipOne was proprietary, Luke was able to share with the students a video of the SpaceShipOne test flight, as well as his enthusiasm for his work and some words of wisdom.

Scaled Composites was the winner of the $10 million X Prize, an international competition intended to encourage the development of civilian space flight.
