Orientation is an opportunity to welcome our new graduate students and to share important information from the College of Engineering and your program. Orientation is mandatory for all entering students.
College of Engineering New Graduate Student Orientation:
- Date: Wednesday, January 17, 2024
- Place: Rm 245, 110 Cummington Mall
- Agenda:
- 9:30am – 10:00am: Continental Breakfast
- 10:00am Resources for your Success: Graduate Programs Office & ENG Career Development Office
- 11:00am: Department/Program Meetings

Set up your BU Email Account
After accepting your offer from BU it is important to set up your BU Account with an Email address and Kerberos password.
- You will receive email directions about setting your BU email account and Kerberos password. This email will have an Access Code from the Office of Information Technology at Boston University.
- Please check your spam or junk mail folders for this email.
- If you have not received this email, please notify the Graduate Programs Office .
- You will not receive communications from BU, including critical information from your department about your advisor assignment and registering for courses, until you have created your BU email account.
Link your Account to College of Engineering Resources
Linking your account provides access to ENG resources like the shared and personal drives, our Citrix application server, and our room access system Zaius.
- Note: You must have activated your BU e-mail address in order to get connected. Once you have successfully completed the process you will be taken to a confirmation screen that says “Your request has been approved.” You will not receive a confirmation email.

Be Sure Your Student Link is in Compliance
In order to be eligible to register, students must be in compliance with University requirements. Students are required to:
Terrier Card (Your BU ID)
- The Terrier Card is the official Boston University student identification card. For new students, Terrier Cards are issued at the start of their first semester.
- Photo identification must be presented to receive a new Terrier Card. Valid identification includes a driver’s license, state identification card, or passport.
- Terrier Cards are valid for on-campus identification only. For information on obtaininga new or replacement Terrier Card visit the Terrier Card website.
Additional Requirements:
- Each student is responsible for becoming familiar with regulations at the College of Engineering as stated in the College of Engineering Bulletin.
- Students are also responsible for becoming familiar with specific requirements as stated by their individual department or program of study.
