Certificate Programs

Whether you already have an advanced degree or not, a graduate certificate program is a great way to develop advanced-level expertise in a focused area of study, without having to commit to a full degree program. Boston University offers certificates in:

  • tmp_100x100 MEMS The micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) certificate program is designed to develop graduate-level expertise in a variety of cutting-edge areas, including materials and manufacturing techniques for microelectronics, and MEMS devices and transducers. More Info
  • tmp_100x100 Product Design The Product Design certificate program develops graduate-level expertise in engineering product design, development and production through a practical, hands-on curriculum that exposes you to a wide range of product types that will enhance your design capabilities. 3-Course Programs Give You Flexibility

These fast-track programs require just 12 credits (3 courses), and students who can’t attend classes on campus can use our flexible Distance Learning platform. Certificate courses can also be used to satisfy applicable requirements for Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree programs, and current MEng, MS and PhD students can earn certificates as they fulfill the requirements.

Program Requirements:

  • BS in engineering or a related technical field
  • Complete 12 credits of pre-selected graduate level courses (3 courses)
  • Maintain an average GPA of 3.0
