Dr. Mostafa Yourdkhani's research in the past few years has been focused on the development of multifunctional materials that exhibit revolutionary manufacturability, performance, and longevity for a wide variety of applications ranging from aerospace structures to dental materials. In this talk, he will first present a new polymerization strategy for the rapid, net-zero energy manufacturing of thermoset polymers and composites that has also enabled 3D printing of freeform structures as well moldless manufacturing of thermoset parts. Then, he will discuss how using a multiscale material design can be used to develop composite materials with added functionalities. Finally, strategies for creating self-regulating materials that exhibit enhanced longevity and reliability compared to traditional material design will be presented.
