Engineers Without Borders

Engineers Without Borders at Boston University is part of a nationwide organization that encourages students to spearhead community-driven development programs worldwide, often involving the theme of global health. EWB partners with developing communities to improve their quality of life through the implementation of sustainable, equitable, and economical engineering projects while developing internationally responsible Societal Engineers.

EWB’s goal is to use their engineering skills to create innovations that will change society, starting in their outreach communities and eventually reaching worldwide. Past projects include trips to Chirimoto, Peru to build a more reliable and healthier water supply for the entire village to prevent the spread of disease, and this year the EWB students plan to work in the rural community of Naluja, Zambia to improve cell phone reception to aid in the prevention and treatment of infant HIV/AIDS.
