ECE Nanocrystal/LED Research Featured in Nature Photonics


Nature Photonics recently published news about ECE research that demonstrates how low turn-on voltages (6 V) for Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) fabricated with silicon nanocrystals embedded in silicon nitride matrices can be achieved when Si nanoclusters form inside nanometre-sized layers. In the past, typical inexpensive light-emitting devices compatible with mainstream silicon technology have required a less efficient 8-15 V of energy.
