BU alumnus Preston S. Wilson (Ph.D. 2002) has been granted tenure in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Wilson earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University in 2002. He studied sound propagation and scattering in bubbly liquids, and the acoustics of water-saturated marine sediments.
After serving as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Boston University, Wilson joined the Cockrell School of Engineering faculty at the University of Texas at Austin in 2003. His research has focused on sound propagation and scattering in bubbly liquids, in ocean-bottom sediments, and in biological tissues and fluids. He has also researched the acoustics of marine mammal sonar, and developed underwater sonar devices to detect mines.
