Luca Dal Negro is Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in Boston University’s College of Engineering. He is also Director of the Nanomaterials and Nanostructure Optics Lab at BU. Professor Dal Negro received his PhD in Physics in 2003 from the University of Trento, Italy, for his thesis “Stimulated Emission and Photon Diffusion in Low Dimensional Silicon Structures.” His research interests include optical amplification phenomena and laser physics, optical spectroscopy of semiconductor nanostructures, non-linear optics of nanomaterials, photonic crystals, light scattering and Anderson localization in aperiodic dielectric and metal/dielectric structures, and fabrication of silicon-based nanostructures for silicon photonics.
