While any weather related event may effect normal operations to the University, Severe weather can have a disastrous effect on students, staff, visitors and the campus. Most severe weather events can be anticipated far enough in advance to give sufficient warnings and notifications to the community.

The University has developed a Hurricane Response Plan and is developing response plans for the other severe weather events. They will be posted on this web page as they are completed.

Because of the widespread nature of severe weather events, students, faculty and staff should follow the instructions given them by public safety and University officials pertaining to their response and actions to these events. Some general actions are listed below:

  • Unplug all unnecessary equipment, appliances, sensitive electrical instruments and computers.
  • Store all equipment in safe areas away from windows.
  • Assist where needed or as may become necessary as directed by supervisor.
  • When conditions warrant, move staff/students away from windows.
  • Contact your supervisor before leaving your department.
