Richa Kaul, Candidate for President

Hi my name is Richa Kaul and I am running for President on the slate BU’s Push To Start. Together with Joe, Josh, and Jamie, we want to bring continuity and inclusivity to Student Government. We realize that there’s work to be done to evolve Stu Gov from its current culture and outreach, and we have concrete plans for change. In terms of our slate, we have diverse student experiences including experience in Student Government, a critical eye and fresh perspective to the workings of Stu Gov, and involvement in several other student groups and organizations. Personally, I have been involved in Student Government for the last two years and am currently Vice President. As VP, I have worked on successfully getting an additional double-BUS in rotation, evaluating the issues student groups face with SAO, expanding resources for international students, a new Emergency Icon on the current BU Mobile app, and some other projects. I have also been involved with the CSC and Ad Club, and I am a TA in SMG. I would be grateful and excited for the opportunity to serve as President of BU Student Government next year with the rest of this slate, and I hope you consider giving us the chance to work hard as members of the Executive Board.

Personally, I have been involved with Admissions at BU for the past two years and am now an Ambassador Coordinator, which has provided me the opportunity to not only meet visiting families but a great number of fellow students as well. I have also been an LA for BI108 and FYSTAFF and am currently doing on campus research in a developmental biology lab. I would be honored to have the chance to provide a fresh face to Student Government and to serve you as Executive Vice President alongside the rest of the slate.

Vice President of Internal Affairs: Jamie Ellis (COM ’15) | jcellis@bu.edu

Jamie Ellis, Candidate for Vice President of Internal Affairs

Jamie Ellis, Candidate for Vice President of Internal Affairs

As the candidate for VP of Internal Affairs on BU’s Push to Start, I hope to bring my excitement and experience with Student Government to the Executive Board. My year-long term as Cabinet Director of Events has taught me both the strengths and opportunities that our organization faces for next year, and my involvement in Boston University’s Greek life, CSC programs, and professional organizations has helped me to understand the needs and desires of our student groups on campus. With the support and leadership of my fellow slate-members, I would thrive as VP of Internal Affairs, and continue to build transparency between Student Government and its constituents.

BU’s Push to Start has focused our campaign around establishing continuity in Student Government. We believe that in order to create impactful initiatives for the student body, we must build an organization that has clearly-defined long-term objectives and involved, continuous, leadership. By drawing on our slate’s previous experience in Student Government, implementing mentoring programs for incoming/outgoing officers, and building a community of returning underclassmen, BU’s Push to Start will garner the respect from administration and enthusiasm from the student body necessary for our organization to thrive.

I am a Posse Scholar from Atlanta, Georgia. On campus, I am currently CAS Freshman Class President, an Executive Staff member of Student Government, on the E-board of BU-Decide as treasurer, and I am a tutor at the Jackson-Mann community center. As an Executive Staff member, I have worked closely with the Student Body President on improving safety around campus. I have also helped make our campus more environmentally friendly by improving the recycling processes of the print centers. When it comes to financial affairs, I am experienced in excel and budgeting from past positions in clubs through out high school and college. I would really appreciate the opportunity to serve as Vice President of Financial Affairs and work as hard as I can with my slate for the Student Body on the Executive Board
