Fit Testing
Boston University and Boston Medical Center (BMC) will ensure that all employees, medical staff and students, who wear a respirator, shall be provided a respirator that fits properly and shall be trained in its use.
Individuals must be medically cleared to wear an N95 respirator before fit testing can occur. A medical clearance involves completing a respiratory questionnaire, and having that questionnaire reviewed by a licensed medical practitioner.
The medical clearance only needs to be completed once. If you have previously been cleared to wear an N95 respirator, you do not need another medical clearance unless there has been a change since which affects your ability to wear a respirator (asthma diagnosis, facial change, etc..).
| For researchers and those personnel that support research whose jobs require the use of respirators, you must fill out the Research Occupational Health Program (ROHP) questionnaire and receive medical clearance by ROHP before you schedule a fit test. | ROHP Respiratory Questionnaire
