Hospital Safety

Overview

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) serves an integral role in the Safety Management structure at Boston Medical Center (BMC). EHS provides for the Joint Commission required Safety Officer and organizes and manages the functions of the Hospital Safety Committee.

The Environment of Care

The Safety Management structure at BMC is based on the six sections of the Environment of Care (EOC). The Safety Committee monitors the performance and effectiveness of the EOC. The Safety Committee has appointed “Team Captains” of each of the six sections of the EOC. The seven sections of the EOC are;

Fire Safety Management

Hazardous Materials and Waste Management

Medical Equipment

Utility Management
